I load up tf2, join a server and my internet connection (to this pc only) dies.
Happens with no other steam game, css and tm work fine.

It's like it opens too many connections the conks out. I wanna play :(

any help?

sounds like a firewall issue. have you checked your firewall or your ports ?

try disabling windows firewall if your already using a firewall like zonealarm.

1. Click on "Start", then select "Run", type "cmd" and press Enter or click "Ok". This will bring up a command prompt.
2. Type "telnet speedtouch", or if that doesn't work then type "telnet 192.168.1.254".
3. You will be prompted to login to the modem with a username/password. The default is one of the following:

Username: Administrator
Password: None (leave this field blank)

Username: admin
Password: admin

If neither of those combinations work, please contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance
4. Once you have logged in, you will be presented with the command line of your modem. This is where you must enter the following commands:
* Type "connection bindlist" and press enter. This will list connection bindings.
* Look for a line that contains "GAME" and some port numbers. For example: GAME(UDP) udp 27010-27011
* Enter the command: "connection unbind application=GAME(UDP) port=27***-27***" and press enter. The port numbers in this command must match the numbers that are listed in your GAME port listing, similar to the example above.
5. When finished, close the command line and launch Steam. Try joining the game server and see if it works correctly. If it does not, please contact your router manufacturer or Internet Service Provider for assistance.

If the above doesn't work try this;

Think I did both, but for different things, the first one sorted out TF2/Garry's Mod for me.

1. Follow this link to the router configuration page:
http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/bandr/?ce...BACKUP_RESTORE

2.Enter username & password (default is Administrator, with password left blank)

3. Select Backup Configuration Now.... Don't close this window

You should now have a user.ini file containing your router configuration options.

4. open it in Notepad. Go to Edit , Find and search for appconfig application=GAME(UDP)

You should see three entries regarding UDP. You need to change them to:

appconfig application=GAME(UDP) trace=enabled timeout=3
appconfig application=CONE(UDP) trace=enabled timeout=3
appconfig application=LOOSE(UDP) trace=enabled timeout=3

Now again, go to Edit , Find and this time search for timerconfig timer=udpidle

You should change this entry to:

timerconfig timer=udpidle value=3

5. Save that user.ini file to the desktop. Switch back to the Speedtouch router page and select Restore Configuration Now....

6. Use the router dialogue to locate and select the user.ini file that you have modified. The router should upload the file.

7. Once configuration is uploaded, restart your router and all 'Connection Problem' or Server list crashes or Restarting of the BeBox due to UDP flooding in CSS and other games should be FIXED.

Didnt get round to this, no time and someone is usually online or i was playing 2142! but no css is borking my internet too so...

on cmd I get the telnet is not recognized as an internal or external command etc,

will try the user ini when mom gets off the net.

right, you need to enable telnet. two secs!

Edit: I remembered I used the first one when I tried using a Netgear DG834N router with Be There, and the telnet option was in the router's actual page 192.168.0.1.

No idea how to turn telnet on for the Bebox, perhaps someone else can advise? I'll have a quick google but if I can't find anything try the folk over at http://www.beforum.co.uk

I removed Telnet from my Vista install, and I had the same issue.

Doing the tip above through Putty will work for you :)

If you need any help, just say, as I've done it on my bebox :)
