OcUK TF2 Community Server is now up and running :)
The server is Vanilla, apart from admin mods, and a stats plugin. I'll soon have a stats web page!

"rank" to get your rank
"top10" to get the top 10
"players" to get a list of ingame players
"webrank" to get your webrank
"webtop" to get the webtop
"session" to get informations about your session

I'm in the process of setting up a TF2 server for the OcUK community, akin to the L4D servers. The server will be running on the same machine as the L4D servers.

Unfortunately, I won't have the time to administrate the server on my own - I usually only get chance to play <10 hours a week. Anyone on here have the inclination and awesomeness to be given server admin status?

Also, I'll be primarily setting the server to be completely vanilla - if anyone wants to recommend any changes, additions or community maps, feel free to chip in with them :)

I may be interested, what would you be looking for admin wise? Just kicking/banning morons, balancing teams etc or more complex things?

nah, that's about it.

I'm fine with actual server maintenance, I just won't be around all the time to kick fools :p
 
If I played TF2 more I would be more than up for being an admin. I play occasionally and if there's a regular group of players from ocuk I may well play more. If this happens, consider this an offer...
 
Assuming the admin will be through sourcemod, you should all post your steam IDs for uv.

e.g.

STEAM_1:1:18191621

You can get this through a console command in game. If you don't know how, google is your friend :)
 
I'd love to do this but I have two huge issues which would count against me:

I've never been a server admin before so have no idea how it works.

I could see myself getting far too acquainted with the "kick" feature. Not in an angry or unjust way, just like a very strict parent.
 
I'll do it later when I get back from work. If you want to add me to your friends list uv, it may be easier to report server problems if that is the case...

If you're already an admin on the L4D servers I can easily provide your details to uv. As we know each other in RL and he also part-owns the server with me we share quite a lot of this info.

It's really not complex to pick up but I do agree that resisting kicking people can be hard. Having someone be strict with people isnt' the end of the world though - as long as it's not overboard. I personally slap people/kick them if they come out with tiresome racial/sexual humour, but I'm far from obsessed with being PC. I think it's quite important for the person in charge of the admins (e.g. in this case, uvmain) to prepare some guidelines. I keep meaning to do this for L4D.
 
I help out on the L4D front, I'd be willing to lend a hand here if you want. I just got back into TF2. STEAM_0:1:8653187

I have yet to find a reason to kick anyone on L4D and while TF2 is different, I only ever crave a kick button with guys floating around in the skybox and complete smack tards.
 
I can't abide racism or homphobic comments, but apart from that the only thing that really annoys me is incessant mic spam.

A quick jingle over the mic can be funny. After a few times, it deserves a kickban :p

Don't worry Geckovich - I can almost guarantee I'm more ban-happy than you :D

I'm cutting down on my TF2 but I still manage to get a couple of hours a night :p
 
Uvmain, if you did need someone else besides Uber Soldat to give you a hand with kicking feral children, europop spammers, skybox walkers and the like I'd be more than willing to lend a hand.

more admin presence on the server can't be a bad thing :)
