true, it also means 4 hours of the same map too >.< lol

I spose youll have to trial things and see how they work/if they work better than other ways of doing things.?

is it Arena only? (change to normal game modes imo..)

i'd be happy to admin if you want, will find out my id later
 
It's not arena only, it just seems to be running an arena map at the mo :)

When I get in I'll remove the Arena maps from the rotation and restart the server. Unfortunately I'm off to the gym straight after, so hopefully it'll be okay whilst I'm out!

Bledd, if you can chuck me your steam_id (either here or over Steam), I'll add you to the admin list :)

True :)

My experience with running servers tends to be: stick to a very simple/small mapcycle of the same "old favourites" (read: boring/overplayed) maps...but also leave the ability in there for people to vote in interesting maps easily.

Perhaps you're right about the random vote thing at the end - though I'd personally recommend something more player-intiated.

It's uv's baby though...and I'm not exactly a TF2 expert so I'll stop meddling ;p

Once I check Bledd and yourself are on the admin list, that should be enough admins for now :)

Ah, looks like I haven't. So uv will definitely need your steam ID. I'll grab it too and add it to the L4D admins.cfg.

There's a link from uv in this thread with details on the admin controls. You can also use the console command sm_admin to access an admin menu.
 
The easiest way to exercise the SM Admin commands are to type "!admin" into chat whilst in game, or through HLSW.

It's pretty self-explanatory in-game - ie, it gives you a list of numbers and their respective commands :)
 
Yeah arena & ctf aren't all that popular for public (except Turbine!!11!1 that map is awesome!)

I'd go for all CP and PL maps, but include ctf_turbine!

I'm pretty sure there's a plugin you can install on the server that allows more players to be used in arena - but don't know where you'd get it or how it works.

It's a good idea for a vote to pop up near the end of the map with around 4 maps to vote for nextmap. Not sure what kind of system is in place just now, if it's just a rotation or whatever...

I might pop on later tonight. :)
 
I'm sure you have enough admins already but if you need another I'll volunteer. I don't play loads through the week but I am on most of the weekend :)

PS. Good games last night, sorry I couldn't stay for long!

IngameUsage:

Type into Ingame chat:
"rank" to get your rank
"top10" to get the top 10
"players" to get a list of ingame players
"webrank" to get your webrank
"webtop" to get the webtop
"session" to get informations about your session

For Admins:

Yeah, I think pl and CP are the best bets. Last ngiht was my 1st time on arena and wasn't really lthat impressed with it.

Turbine is the only ctf map worth having.

Still need to sort my damn CTD issue though.
