Hey, been playingsome TF2 and im alittle confused about how the stats work (when your waiting to join a game, it says how long you have played each character etc)

Well, yesterday i decided to play soldier, i played for about 1.30 hours and ranked up around 70kills/points etc, came on today, and its still set to have only played about 40minutes and most points as 7?

i hate those points :P mine looks silly now as i was sitting in the base at 2fort for half an hour as a medic healing ubering people etc etc and managed to wrack up 50+ points in a life with 18k heals lol. now as all my other classes have like 8-10points its all out of scale

Stayed alive for 37mins on duel2 map and not my stats graph is screwed up as I got 100+ points as medic :D It's cool to see how much experience you've got with each class though :)

I still don't remember how I got 59 kills as an Engineer, I've never beaten it since. I am guessing it was in the early days where people didn't know what sentry's were.

You would find a Demoman sidling up to you and destroying you with little to no effort nowadays. They are unbalanced... they can do basically everything better than any other class (other than healers obviously). I'm dreading their update pack.

My stats are ruined, I just had too much fun going on achievement servers and setting up sentry guns :(

Also I was healing, then I had to go afk and when I came back and died, I racked up 3500 odd points

Valve said they think the Demoman is a little out of whack so they might try to align him more.

I think the problem is that the demoman has so much potential power that, in the hands of a top player he's devastating.

Rezident hit the nail on the head.

A Demoman in the hands of someone who can hit people with the grenades is deadly and more capable than the Soldier (Soldiers can't take down sentries that are being repaired, etc). You can rack up quite a lot of points with them too - although points aren't necessarily indicative of much.

In the hands of weaker players though Demo is pretty average and "worse" than the Soldier, although grenade spam will net some kills the true power comes in sticky traps, accurately gauging the arc of the grenades to hit people, etc.

I hope Valve don't overnerf Demos because they don't seem like a class that utterly dominates in the hands of everyone, only those who are already just "that damn good" at aiming & prediction in FPS games anyway.

TBH I think its that the demoman is a very easy class to use, and is mainly a spam class, yet the spam is so destructive. And Tf2 gameplay modes consist mainly of red/blue having to go a specific place, making it easy for a demoman to decide where to spam. On goldrush for instance you can just sit and spam the cart with pipebombs and grenades, and because they are projectiles you don't exactly have to be in visual of enemy to get them.

Yeah Gold Rush is great for Demos.

"Bloody brilliant!"
"THAT'S THE WAY YA DO IT!"

Demomen really annoy me at the minute, I prefer Soldier as a class because his two weapons are more versatile; some of the slower classes (including demos) can't outdodge shotgun shells :D

I'm also amazed how long they last against a rushing Pyro, just laying down stickies in front of themselves and detonating them as the Pyro runs over.

there's a pile o' crying out for the demo to be nerfed over on the Steam forums.. tbh, I don't get it. I have 29 points with the sniper, 28 with the spy, ~20 with all the others.. except for demo, with whom I have 7 points. I just can't play him :/

Apart from Scouts and possibly Pyros he can still hold his own in CQC. The primary grenade launcher needs next to no aiming for example ;)

I hate decent Scouts when I play Demo, they hop about too much making hitting them virtually impossible.

I would disagree about the primary grenade launcher not needing much aiming to be honest... maybe if you're right next to someone (you take big self damage if you do this anyway) but if someone is medium range you have to predict their movement as well as the arc of the shot. Demo skill cap is higher than Soldier imo, and is therefore deserving of some of its uberness.

My longest survival time is for heavy, 37 minutes or something. Have no clue how I managed it, must have been curled up in a corner crying somewhere.

I wouldnt be a bad demoman if I didnt keep blowing myself up.
