TF2: trying to gauge interest (SERVER)

It may get some interest. When I set up a 32 man TF2 server I had calls to drop it to 24 as it was too manic. I did that and it got a few players for a while, but then interest dropped out again with people already having their favourite TF2 servers and new games such as BC2 coming out.

I'll leave any OcUK TF2 servers to you I think, but I'd quite like admin on your server. I can send you an ocuk admin file if you like so you can pick and choose the regulars such as Lyon who will probably play on your server...

I'm quite happy just running OcUK's L4D, L4D2 and CSS servers atm... (which ofc your lot are welcome to use aswell, though you have your own css server...)

Sorry to go a bit off topic but I've had TF2 for about 2 years now and don't really have any longer than 5 hours played on it, and I'm not sure why.

Maybe it could be because I don't fully understand the classes inside-out, maybe it could be because I don't have any friends that play it.

I really want to like it, but I can't seem to get in to it!

Playing alone sucks, you'll get nuked without any friendly medics to back you up, unless of course you're a closet Spy. I find sticking to one server you'll find a sense of community and enjoy it more.

TF2 is great fun with some friends/a crowd and promotes plenty of team play but more often than not you won't get it on a public server with random people.

I for one cannot stand anything but "vanilla" TF2 and some of the server mods are annoying as hell.

If it's going cheap I would pick it up, but if its retailing for full RRP you might not get the value as it tends to be a bit of a casual pickup and play affair for most people these days. Hence this thread :p I've no idea if a free weekend is on the cards for it but it might be worth waiting for one of those to see what you think.

It's hard to get a TF2 server going all day long these days, most people already have a home. However, the last OcUK server we had turned out pretty well. We used to set up games every other night and it always filled up and was always a larf.

I ran an OCUK TF2 server a year or two ago and it was popular. Dunno if most ocuk'ers are on bc2 now, but TF2 is still one of the best games of last decade.

I would be very much up for TFU to host a TF2 Server, as it is is main game and i know how good their on Servers usually are :) Crack on ladies...

I'm starting to play more on TF2 now, I've been hooked on BC2 for some time but now the niggles are starting to grate and I hate the "promised" patches being delayed again and again.

24man is good, 32 is too many for some of the maps and as said earlier, have a nice vanilla style, cant stand all that carp with party hats, balloons and perks for donators.
