Demoman weapons revealed!

http://www.teamfortress.com/demomanupdate

The Eyelander
He gets a sword that can decap people, replaces the bottle.

The Chargin’ Targe
A shield that gives a similar ability to the charger in L4D2!

Scottish Resistance
A new sticky launcher, can lay down twice as many, destroy enemy stickies and choose which pile of stickies gets detonated (by looking at them whilst right clicking), slower charge time, so no good for mid air stickies

Solider weapons revealed!

The Direct Hit
A more precise rocket launcher, it has 70% smaller blast radius (less splash damage), but rockets move 80% faster and do 25% more direect damage, you also get mini-crits for if you hit an enemy that is in the air

The Equalizer
A pick axe that replaces the shovel, the lower your health is, the more damage it deals

The Buff Banner
Replaces the shotgun, with this enabled any damage you deal builds up a 'rage' meter, once this is full, any team mates standing near you (and yourself) will deal mini crits for 14 seconds

The Gunboats
Special boots that replace the shotgun, with these equipped, rocket jumping does far less self damage -awesome

Demoman has 2 updates today :) The sword and the shield they are to separate weapon slots.

This update is already sounding good with crafting etc as well.

I like the idea behind this update with one of the classes getting an extra weapon BUT I am not a fan of the crafting system

Why are Valve trying to turn TF2 into an RPG?

They should get rid of duplicate items, random unlocks and this crafting system. I'm fed up of AFK'ers anyway, but now we will suffer from people being AFK because they will be crafting weapons whilst in the respawn (unless crafting can only be done outside of a game)

I agree with you mate

Random drops should be super rare items only (like the soliders medal etc)

Hats should be awarded automatically when you do ALL the achievements for a class, I play a lot of TF2 and the only class I've finished (iirc) is Spy

I am loving the all the new updates for TF2! I have put a lot of hours in over the weekend. I can't believe that it has managed to pry my hands away from L4D2.

BTW, I meant to ask! What the hell is all this crafting business about? I read the announcement but didnt get it.

It looks as if you can join various weapons together to form new weapons. They will provide a few examples but there will be others that can be created with some trial and error.

Whilst I love Valve for their originality (though this is wearing thin now) and their commitment for older titles (TF2 is a few years old now?!) - they are slowing killing TF2. When it was first out, it was pure, un-adulterated carnage. Now there is all this item drop malarchy, hats, medals, halos and now crafting.

Its getting ridiculous. Valve need to strip this game back to basics.

In your opinion of course.

They're evolving it, keeping it fresh. The item drops, crafting etc are in no way intrusive, if you don't like it..its not hard to ignore it and enjoy the game for what it is.

Very true, but whilst I may ignore these features, other players will get wrapped up in them, causing a slow down in the speed of the gameplay.

But of course time will tell, I may be wrong.

I think the gameplay is still very similar the only difference being is that TF2 is still very active but without any of these updates I could see a lot less people playing. I think if there wasn't any updates then the player base would be much smaller and brutal.

Paul, it's a new game each time updates get released, and in a good way

If one class gets updated, it effects the play style of all other classes. Plus, they get so many new sales with the updates, they'd be daft to drop TF2!

I hoping my 8800gts gets here in time so i can see the new stuff in action, my 3650 is starting to struggle now.

Heh, if you think people are spamming the demo and soldier roles now, wait till the achievements show up!

I like the new things, it would become a bit stale otherwise. This, Trackmania and L4D2 is all I need :D

If you want the game back to basics, go and get it on Xbox/ PS3. You'll soon come crawling back praising the additions!

Wonder what's in the hidden box in the comic, can only see 'Sco...' of the first word and 'Res...' of the other.

Get your thinking caps on.

Also, quite mean of Valve to give the demo his updates early and not the soldier, I can see many people turning traitor and trying out the demo, I know I'm tempted, those weapons sound cool.

On the steam forums I posted that could be..

Scottish Reserve

A whiskey bottle, right clicking makes you take a swig and impairs your vision somehow, but also makes you less prone to taking explosion/fall damage, so you can sticky jump without worrying so much about health
