TF2 Warpath fun

As an old TFC player from release what a pleasure it was to see a re-make of Warpath being played on a few servers over the weekend, man it great fun :D and really suits the forced "team play to win" element of TF2.

Maybe I was just lucky to find a few servers that had "mature" players on all working as a team to win ... one battle to control the centre cap point on the bridge was awesome.

It takes long to cap all 5 without the conc scouts but the sense of achievement when you've capped all 5 is a great gaming high :)

There are a few clipping issues but as far as I can tell the map is in beta state so here's hoping for an update soon.

CP Maps = Team Deathmatch sadly :/ Getting sick of them now as it's a scoutfest half the time. Luckily most servers are imposing scout limits now.
 
Scout fest? :P Just put up a few SGs and you soon see the scout numbers drop

Too many spies? Just run around as a pyro and flame everything :) they soon get sick of it!


I find it quite amusing being able to change to a class which makes the other team change class too :P




As for Warpath, I had a quick play the other day. The map still looks quite basic but its cool :)


Few other custom maps that ive tried and like

Mach2 - nice small map :) ideal for 5-6 on each team
Wolf
Lazytown - can be ok but the last cap is always hard
 
Warpath needs to be just a tad easier to cap the middle ground imho. If a team can get there first and has a decent engi and sniper it's pretty hard to kick them out. Also maybe it was the server I was on but it seemed to have exponentially increasing spawn timers, I think i was up to about 1.5 minutes :eek:

Class limits are the worst thing ever thought of for TF2, if single calss teams are beating you then it means your team sucks. Limited to 2 spies who jsut want to backstab and don't take out the SG's then you can almost say goodbye to winning some levels.
 
I agree ... it's feel like pot luck sometimes to find a decent server with players that have "team play" as number one concern ... thankfully the ones I was in over the weekend had that.

What impressed me by the Warpath map was how it felt just ... well it felt just right for TF2 giving that, dare I say, "TFC2" feel :eek: ;)

My hope is more and more TFC oldies (clan players) gravitate to TFC map re-makes like Warpath :D
 
The trouble with a lot of the old maps is the fact that they need changing to work with TF2 :/

The conquest / point capture maps work well with TF2 but all the old CTF maps need some work to be fun in TF2. Most of the maps were never meant to have 20-24 people playing them ;/ 2Fort is a good example and you pretty much always need a pretty good team to get caps out of there since its such a small base with limited access.

It would be nice to see more CTF maps made purposely for TF2
