Anyone got any opinions on the above? I know the Xchanger is physically larger, but does that affect temperatures much (in comparison)?

If it is substantially better, then I'll consider getting one, in the hope it will cool my Quad and GTX on its own.

I'll be able to help a bit in a couple of days. I've got an 8800gt with a single 120 feser, it loads at 3 degrees above idle. When the cpu block arrives Ill be able to tell you how well a 120 feser copes with both, which should extrapolate fairly well to your set up

You might not have a choice. The PA120 series are getting ridiculously hard to find. The Xchanger has had good reviews so if you can get one easily, then you won't be making a mistake.

I managed to get a 120.2 off Ebay Mike, it seems sound, although I've had to straighten the fins a bit, and a few aren't perfect. It also needs a respray as it's cosmetically challenged. :D

I asked the question 'cos there's an xchanger 240 available as well. The xchanger will still fit comfortably, although it's bigger, so I'm wondering if it'll give me better cooling capability. I'm also considering which fans to use as I want to stay quiet. I have some Yate Loons, but I also have one Noctua Vortex, so I'll have to get another Vortex, and try both I suppose.

If you've already got a PA, don't bother to get an alternative. Yate Loons are perfect and some of the Noctuas are re-branded Yate Loons but I can't remember which models.
