Here goes,

I have an old ish pc AMD 64-3200, 1gb ram, 2x160gb Hdd, 1x250gb Hdd, Lanparty Mobo (AGP, Skt 754) and a 6800 128mb graphics card.

My old 17" CRT has had it and i am after a new monitor.

Budget (absolute max) has to be £200 so i am looking for a good monitor for games (FEAR, Oblivion, Dawn of War etc) and digital photography.

I have at work a Syncmaster 913N which is ok but not brilliant. Any suggestions i like the VX724 maybe even the 730 from viewsonic

I need to buy this week (before wife changes mind)

My biggest concern is the increase in resolution and the effect it will have on my PC gaming experince as i cannot afford to upgrade anything else.

Thanks

you can;t go wrong with the 913N tbh, an excellent screen and always recommended in the £200 range. Would be a shame to settle for smaller screen sizes imo when there are excellent 19" models like this around. Other popular models are the Acer AL1916W and Neovo F419, but i think you'd be hard pressed to beat the 913N with the budget. Check out all the info on it in the sticky as well :)

Carried out an experiment last night set my CRT to 1280x1024 and ran Oblivion.

Awful - slow juddery looks like i need another CRT as i cannot afford to upgrade the PC.
