tft cleaning question

I have read the faq and it mentions that cleaning fluid can be used. I have some pc screen cleaning wipes which claim to be anti-static. The problem is that they are a few years old and when they were produces tfts weren't sold. I have some spots on my tft that won't come off just with a dry cloth and I think that these wipes will do a better job than just water as they won't smear but I am just wondereing whether the fluid will be suitable for tft screens as well as the crts they were sold for. I believe that tfts have some sort of coating on the screen and don't want to damage this trying to clean it.
