, but the reso's are the same, and on a 20 inch, the pixels are smaller , so the image should be sharper, but you probably wont even notice the difference in sharpness on a 22 inchFor a start you certainly don't have to be sitting perfectly in front of the screen for the picture to look normal, theres quite a lot of "give" before the colours start looking different, and the Samsung has probably the best viewing angles out of all the TN screens out there.fobose said:All of the 22" WS's have TN panels (poor viewing angles) so unless your going to sit perfectly infront of it at all times it will be annoying, especially if you have friends over to play on your 360. Maybe I am just being fussy though.

I want to order asap before I set about getting my new PC parts next week.fobose said:All of the 22" WS's have TN panels (poor viewing angles) so unless your going to sit perfectly infront of it at all times it will be annoying, especially if you have friends over to play on your 360. Some do some don't. Dell 2007WFP has an IPS panel. Viewsonic VX2025wm has an MVA panel. Generally the 20"ers aroud £200 are TN, the ones over £250 are better panels like IPS/PVA/MVA etc. You can check the viewing angle specs to know what the panel type is. If it's in the 130-160 degrees range it's gonna be TN. If it's more like 170-178 then it's going to be one of the better panels. Or just ask on these forumsSoiL said:the 20" WS's have the TN panel as well right?![]()
While this is true, no one should be using the 360 through composite anyway, composite is awful even on the best TV around and doesn't do HD resolutions at all. Even on a low def TV the RGB scart looks way better than the composite. Also these extra s-video/composite inputs on the 2007WFP are just an afterthought really (a bonus), as you say they are bad quality and probably aren't really meant to be used much. 360 through MS VGA cable onto 2007WFP is excellent though as you say.fobose said:However using the composite connection (as it has no component) it looks VERY bad, kinda worse than ps2 graphics, so I would highly recommend the offical MS VGA cable.

Even if you have multiple people looking at the screen, you rarely look at the screen past a viewing angle of 160 degrees, so viewing angles aren't nearly as important as some people say.
Dcode said:I would NOT buy a 2007WFP for the 360. It displays a good picture but the wavy lines/interference through the VGA cable takes the immersion away for me.
Those lines are caused by the 360, nothing to do with the monitor. Ask about them on the consoles forum, they're a well known issue with the VGA output on the 360. They're exactly the same on my LG 32" LCDTV, and they are very hard to see on the 2007WFP unless you turn the contrast up way above default (which ruins the picture anyway, contrast should be left on 50 on this screen to dislpay the widest colour gamut). Using my PC through VGA on the 2007WFP and there's no hint of the lines.Dcode said:Except the bad flickering and static snow like effect on gray backgrounds through the 2007 which your forgetting to mention.

1. So if i connect an xbox360 to a 22" (1680x1050), how will it display the picture? will it do 1:1 pixel mapping and upscale the res?, or will it strech the 1,280x720 (720p) image over the res.
2. If it does stretch / or upscale since the native res is 16:10 ratio do you get borders?
3. Is havving a xbox360 running through a PC moniter via VGA the same HD image you would get on a HD:TV i.e 720p with a 360 or is just SD:TV streched / upscaled?
Thanks,

Have you also got a 2007WFP, and do you notice the lines on default (50) contrast settings? It's just that you only really see the lines on the 2007WFP if you start taking the contrast above default. When I first read about this problem I posted several times in a thread here that my 2007WFP didn't have the problem at all, until someone posted to try turning up the contrast, and then I saw it. So it's such a subtle thing that I didn't even see it on default settings.Dcode said:I tried the 360 VGA cable on my spare NEC LCD2090UXi. There was no trace of the 'wavey lines' at all. I could not reproduce the problem on this monitor.
It uses a TN panel so the viewing angles won't be as good as the 2007WFP, whether that matters or not is up to you. It also won't as sharp because of the bigger pixels but that is hardly noticeable.shiner said:I'm probably going to go for a Dell monitor now, really was hoping to get a 22" and have seen this
Dell E228WFP 22" ?
Will this be as good as the 2007WFP ????
Going to order one today as I can't wait any longer (money burning hole, lol)
