Stuck at a cross roads here and don't know which way to turn so am looking for some advice please,

Essentially I have an Xbox 360 and a 13.1" Macbook, and i am looking for a solution to give a better viewing experience on both, so i have narrowed it down to either getting a nice HDTV or a TFT either of which will be used for Mac, 360, and TV viewing purposes, but i don't know which solution is best, primarilly i have been looking at the dell 2407FWP's, they seem to tick all the boxes yet i have an underlying thought regarding the price of these vs. the price of comparable HDTV's, obviously the Dell offers a better resolution but a HDTV is, obvioulsy a TV, making the ned for a TV card for my mac etc. unnecesary vs. having to buy one with the Dell,

So essentially, which is the best solution for TV, 360 and Mac usage on a budget, HDTV or TFT?

Thanks in advance

£270 ish for my Samsung 226 BW and it works an absolute treat with my Xbox360.
If you sit at a desk - get a TFT
If you sit in a lounge - get a cheapish HDTV

I'd agree with that. Unless you have a 1080p HDTV (which would be too big for a normal desk anyway) the resolution is far too small on a HDTV for use with a PC or Mac.

I'm using one now (though not forever) perfectly fine.

HDTV.

With pretty much all PC screens you get the wrong aspect ratio (16:10 as opposed to 16:9) and it looks horrible having everything stretched vertically with 360 games.

Mind you some HDTV's have a 16:10 resolution like 1440x900. Make sure you get a TV that has 1366x768 or 1280x720. They are both 16:9 and will display the games correctly.

I've used one myself at 1366x768 and I find it far too small a resolution. Don't get me wrong some games look great but browsing and using Word, Dreamweaver etc. feels far too cramped.

Don't 2407's do Picture in Picture, aspect preservation and the like?
You could get a freeview box with S-video/Composite output (or a cable to do it for you); that would sort you for Tv on the Dell.

It does 1:1 mapping at 1080p via VGA.
