TFT smudges....

Hi,
My freind has just picked up a few cheap 17" TFTs, the only problem being that they have spots of bad colour on them. To be honest they look like smudges or something but they aredefinatly not something on the screen - its damage. Any idea what this is or how to fix it??

Nop, that's permanent damage. Very likely caused by pressure applied to those points. Do they look like dark spots?

Yea, I thought that was the case but hope springs eternal etc. Ah well.
