As im wanting to get the Conroe E6400 and a X1800XT - My budget for the monitor has become lower :(

Any ideas on the best Sub £140(inc VAT) monitor?

TIA

I really would not skimp on the monitor, its how you see all your lovely hardware in action.

Whats the piont of having a conroe, 1800XT etc etc if your going to see all that goodness on a 15inch TFT (for example).

Anyway-

OcUK Gamer 198YP 19" LCD Monitor

OcUK Value Video7 L19WA 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor

My reccomendation- OcUK Value Hanns-G HW191D 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor

i was thinking:

Hyundai ImageQuest B71A 17" LCD Monitor - Black (MO-033-HY)

and i know i shouldnt, but a monitor can be replaced later...

I would not trust Hyundai, they have a reputation for dieing!

The Hanns G offers a bigger screen and a great price. I would go for that.

Not sure whether my desk could take a 19" Widescreen...

How good are these OcUK Monitors anyway?

A 19inch widescreen is a little shorter than a normal 17inch and wider.

The OcUK monitors are just normal monitors with "OcUK" on the front. Competitors sell the Videoseven as just Videoseven, but OcUK decided to put that name in front of it.

They are ok, you get what you pay for but the Hanns G is quite good for the price.

Ok :) Well im sort of deciding between the 19" WS or the Hyundai - I've heard good things about hyundai though...

But value for money the 19" WS seems very good..

The man speaks the truth.

I personally think the monitor is possibly the most important part. Buy a widescreen monitor (or 2!) and the pleasure of using the PC increases a lot.

The very least I would get is a 19" widescreen, ideally I would get a Dell 2007FPW or a Phillips 20" or a NEC 20". They all run things perfectly... I know you want to get the better graphics card and so on, but you could always get a basic card, and then in a few months when DX10 cards come out, grab a the next gen card. an 7300GT or something is about 50 and will see you thru till then.

Ideally, what monitor would you go for...with a X1800XT? 19" (preferably smaller..due to spacE) but Widescreen may be okay...
