Is there such a thing.... I would love to go widescreen gaming but tft screens have a bad history with ghosting and bluring affect while u move mouse in fps games...

im intrested in the dell2405fpw but im sure thg said it was useless in games i know one review isnt gospel.

I like the look at the belinea too here at ocuk but im just worried my lg flatron will out peform them.

And lashing out major money for my need to go widescreen gaming would be a massive mistake if i bought a none gaming screen.

Iwant it to be sharp sharp and no bluring. ive read loads of posts on here regarding tft and half say no bluring and no shadow. Then i read there is shadows and bluring hehe i get confused.

A friend has a samsung tft 19 inch and he said no shadows and no bluring, i went over his and it was there i seen it a mile off. i guess some of us have a better eye than others and dont care to much at looking a the for ground and background to notice such problems..

any advice, good advice that is on what too look out for would be apreciated.
would be nice to see hi res videos running games on tfts.

pretty much all TFTs with a response time of 8ms or below will produce zero visible ghosting.

so look at the 20" NEC / Philips / Belinea in widescreen

Then i read there is shadows and bluring hehe i get confused.
only on the old panels with a response time of around 16ms

I game heavily, and i bought the 20" philips. Looked lovely in widescreen gaming.

if you want bigger, id advise trying a TV. The 23" samsung is the smaller version of the ones used on the Xbox 360 pods and that obviously has no ghosting. Can be had for about £650 on-line. and the Dell 2405 is £700.

and you get a HD Ready TV to boot !

I could see plenty of ghosting on an 8 ms screen (SM913B). It's true that some people can't see it though, or aren't bothered by it. Have a look at this page-

http://www.behardware.com/articles/602-11/19-lcd-survey-2-3-4-6-8-ms-and-above.html

This is photos BeHardware took comparing ghosting on all the various types and speeds of current LCDs (plus one CRT), including the very quickest VX922 TN panel which is 2 ms. The two photos are 'best' and 'worst' effectively. The actual ghosting you see is somewhere between the two. The pictures speak for themselves.

I couldn't have said it better myself. This shows why if someone says a screen has zero ghosting, you have to take it with a pinch of salt. If you're observant enough to have noticed ghosting, then IMO you'll probably see it on all current LCDs.

Im still none the wiser. This is my point i will be looking for it and i hate glitchs. so looking at that website all tfts ghost.

so i should stick with crt.

Gutted...

Everyone raved about dells 2405fpw on here so i got excited hehe but i gather it was color and picture quality. I set my heart on it tbh guys. I read on thg that it sucks for movies and games great on desktop....

i want a widescreen panel that delivers quality and peformance. and no ghosting and no shadows.

If by shadows you mean trails, then TFTs don't do that anymore, you don't get a trail behind your mouse pointer or anything like that. It was only the 40+ ms screens that were that bad. You might get a bit of a double image round the edge of windows when you drag them, maybe that's what you mean by shadows.

For certain the 2405 isn't the quickest widescreen TFT around, it's 16 ms and has no overdrive (IIRC). So, no it's not ideal for games. Something like the NEC LCD20WGX2 is a lot quicker though. For sure it's not as quick as a CRT, and there will be some ghosting, but it's as good as you will currently get from an LCD. BeHardware reckoned it was as fast as the 2 ms VX922. Check out their review.

I think that's the closest LCD to your requirements. There are 24" widescreen CRTs btw (a sony one I can think of) but make sure your house has solid foundations :D

heheh thx fish99 ive scene that sony monitor also used as a dell ? was trying to get it for the xbox360 hehe...

whats the belinea like in games anyone no ?

CRT or TFT? It is a hard decsion. I have been researching it for months as you will see by my threads etc. I use a CRT at the mo and it does get uncomfortable on the eyes. I know the TFT's are better in that respect just the thought of getting a bad TFT is worrying.

It's a no-brainer for me, I would definitely go for a tft. Unless you're some sort of sick counter strike kiddo... I just ordered a NEC LCD20WGX2, recon I'll have it by tuesday. I can't quite see how ANY crt can compare with it(?) :)

That's a rather ill informed and provocative comment. You're talking as if TFTs are now superior in every area. I've got news for you - they're not. CRTs still perform better in certain areas.

Firstly screen speed. I've never played counter strike and I don't play any online FPS games, but I still dislike ghosting. Have a look at these photos BeHardware took of ghosting on various screens -

http://www.behardware.com/articles/602-11/19-lcd-survey-2-3-4-6-8-ms-and-above.html

Then there's black depth. The deepest black I've seen quoted for any TFT (193P+) is 0.26 cd/m2. Your NEC has a black depth of 0.40 cd/m2 according to BeHardware. A good CRT can do 0.07 cd/m2, four times darker. If you play games like Doom 3 or Fear in a dark room, or watch films in the dark, this can be a big deal.

Ontop of that there's TFTs blurring in non-native resolutions, and finally something you'll be thinking about a lot over the next 48 hours until your screen turns up - the risk of dead pixels.

Not everyone is going to have the same priorities in a screen as you do. That doesn't make them 'counter strike kiddies'.

Its a hard choice when every penny counts! Its a shame to spend hard earned money on a TFT only for it to have 'common' problems. This is what is putting me off from getting one even though they are so right for my desk space etc.

I have a ViewSonic VX912 (12ms) and a friend has the VX924 (4ms). I can really tell the difference between the two and can certainly see someghosting on mine (not much though).

I have the Samsung 930BF, works very well for games.

agree, ive also have the 930BF and indeed it is great for games, very impressive. I don`t watch any movies on it so can`t comment on that issue.

NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2 20.1" Widescreen LCD
Viewsonic VX2025 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor
Belinea 102035W 20.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor -

It has come down to those models.
Also It has to save me space, and be great for gaming.
