I'm looking at buying a better sim setup than I currently have, which is the Playseat Challenge and the G29. I understand that I'll need to weigh the seat down etc.
I'll be using it mostly for F1 and GT7 and I'm wondering which setup would be best to buy.

Buying direct from Fanatec seems a faff. I understand the shipping and fees etc. being added on later but I'm wondering if I purchased today would it even arrive before Christmas.
If anything were to go wrong with it I've read so many stories whereby RMA takes ages and it'd be a faff packaging and shipping.
With Thrustmaster I can buy from UK retailers so fees, shipping and returns would be a breeze in comparison.

I'd probably buy the TGT II and the SF 1000 (I'd add McLaren stickers to it though!) and I enjoy Dirt Rally 2.0 so I'd buy the R383 Wheel, but I'm wondering if I buy the base and wheels separately, which GT style wheel would be best for GT7?
I've read about the transducer effect of the TGT 2 making GT7 feel more immersive than the DD Pro.
So which would you recommend I go for? Is it worth taking a punt on the Fanatec or should I just buy the TGT 2?

Having recently bought the T-GT II as an upgrade over a T300, I can honestly say that it's not worth the extra cost.

All the tranducer does is add some additional vibration at times.

And that's assuming your rigs wheel plate has enough room to mount it properly, as it has large 50mm rubber coated washers to go with the mounting bolts.

That's also ignoring the annoying fan / motor whine that I'm still trying to find out if it is a 'standard' noise or not, with Thrustmaster Support.

I would also read, very carefully, the returns policy on some uk-based sim gear retailers.
If you're not happy with what you buy, you'll probably have issues getting your money back.

Dont waste your money on the TGT II. Had it, sold it. Whilst its not a terrible wheel in its own right, the pedals really are! You will only ever get the benefit of the transducer in GT7, and theres more to the world than GT7... There are far too many really good Direct Drive wheels on the market for similar/cheaper price to be even considering a belt driven wheel these days.
Going by what you are saying, sounds like you are tied to console? If Logitech DD Pro is an option, its not a bad option to have! Pricey for what it is mind, and it does kinda lack the ecosystem at the moment, though there is a lot of speculation/signs pointing to possible releases of other rims, nothing confirmed as yet though.
There is another option, apparently there are some devices on the market that can adapt any DD wheel to work on console, this is never something I've ever tried. However it does come up a fair bit on reviews of DD wheel bases. Dont know how well it works but it could be an option to look into to improve your choice.

As for getting a Fanatec before Christmas? I wouldnt want to put money on it.
