Help please anyone, how on earth do you do 50k+ combos?

only way i can get 50 is to do about 10 manual tricks together (and most of the time i fail to finish them and all :/ )

Easiest way I find is do a stall trick on a lip (hold RT and press Y) this is like a grind but you are stopped still, then keep pressing XX, YY and BB repeatedly to do little changes in the stall trick, this builds up your multiplier. I usually can get it to about 20-30 before it starts getting hard to balance. Then jump off, pop a quick nail the trick, manual the land and do a couple more XX, YY's etc etc.

My highest combo doing that so far is 950k.

Or if you're on a half pipe, do a trick, then revert as you land (RT) and quickly manual before going up the other side and doing another trick. Again, doing this over and over builds up a huge multiplier.

Have you played any of the previous TH games?

Once you pick up the technique of grabbing/reverting/maunalling/grinding/manualling doing specials etc it becomes pretty easy to fly about the levels in a combo picking score up.

I've not got P8, but going by every other Tony Hawk game:
What you need to get the hang of is the revert. When you do a jump up a ramp and do a grab trick, as SOON as you land, you need to press the revert, and as soon as you've done the revert you need to go into a manual, and then aim for your next ramp / trick / grind.

Grinding is quite a good way to make some points up if you grind an object, then come off and do a manual to the next object.

Just keep practising stringing tricks together. Getting 300k+ combos will become second nature.

Personally I like going to a half pipe, doing a big vert trick, usually a special, land in a revert and manual. If I have enough speed still I do more vert tricks, otherwise do a lip trick. Then land in another revert + manual, do some grinds if there's something near by. Then end doing another manual and doing lots of flatland tricks to get the multiplier up.

Circular grind poles are what you needed on other th games. Just go round rings with gaps in and on the gaps ollie from the grind and do a combo, then grind when you land to keep it going. You speed up massive amounts as well.

Also bowl edges work too.

Me and gf have completed the story, I think its pretty good. Graphics are a lot better than wasteland (which we completed a couple of weeks ago) and the whole game is one open world..get the odd bit of slowdown but not enough to spoil it :)

my housemate got this a couple of days ago, I really like it. Graphics are good and the story seems cool.

Last TH game I played was TH:UG2 and its a massive improvement on that

Personally i think its one of the better games in the series (i've been playing since THPS2) The graphics are very very good and the controls feel beautifully refined. They've managed to make the goals accessible to beginners yet very challenging on sick for the pro's.

another good way of getting a bit combo...do all taht has been said above finishing with a manual trick and keep chaning, when it gets hard to balance, go into slow motion and carry on...just watch out for when slow motion finishes though, ollie and do something like a 180 double kickflip just to finish it off nicely :D

i am finding it harder to get huge combos on this one than the others, but its been agggges since i played one think im just out of practice

In fairness, not releasing another game was an improvement on that (and it's predecessor) disgrace.

Personally I prefer American Wasteland to Project 8.

 What makes you prefer THAW? i've never met anyone who likes that.

Find a small bowl and get some ninja-fingers :P

Basically do a couple of tricks to get your speed up, then go up and do a couple of flip tricks, then a grab (all the while turning, should get ~540 or 720), as you land revert into a manual then go up the other side...repeat until you can only just get up the slope and go into a grind round the edge of the bowl, changing your grind while you do it to keep your multiplier going up, then at the end hop off the grind.

Usually find that gets me a minimum of 500k, goes up to the millions if you can get some special grinds in there, or you hop off into a special manual then do some flatland tricks to finish :)

IMO this is the best Tony Hawk game sine THPS3, i really really like it.

I'm still rather crap at the game though to compete on live mind. Although i have got to number 7 on Project 8.

Yep thats the way, and always revert the landings. A) it adds 1 to the multiplier and B) it makes the timing of pulling off the manual a little easier so you'll hit it 95% of the time.

If your running out of go mid manual then do a quick ollie>revert>manual which will at best give your manual a bit more go to give you a chance to hit another trick or manual trick and at worst add to your multiplier by a couple.
