it baffles me that i applied for a position that is 10 mins from my house the job description reads like my C.V. and i don't even get selected for an interview :(

people are saying im over qualified, i don't buy it they want a Senior and im definately that lol

/rant over

anyone else had this problem?

these were the requirements...

Minimum 5 years Graphic design experience at Senior or Art Director level - I'm a creative director and have been senior for over 10 years, I've been involved in graphic design for over 20 years
Minimum 5 years experience working for market leading blue-chip companies and/or iconic brands - i've worked for Electronic Arts, Lego, Sega etc the list goes on
Portfolio showing original concepts for logo design, packaging design and all forms of print design - Plenty of this in my portfolio
Impeccable knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign - i know most Adobe suite like the back of my hand
Excellent organisational skills - I have managed outsourced teams to create triple A games
Excellent communication skills - see above
Proven ability to pitch creative ideas - have pitched to many companies over the years to gain financial backing for projects
Fastidious attention to detail - goes without saying really

not even getting an interview feels like a kick in the teeth tbh

i work for a financial company atm as their Creative Director this new role "Senior Graphic Designer" is a step down but over 1.5 hours closer to me and not much of a drop in wages really once you take out the cost of commuting

unless you're applying for a job that requires very little in the way of skills it is unlikely that you are 'over qualified'

maybe your CV isn't as good as it could be, maybe there were just better candidates out there

what sort of sample size are we talking about? If you're continually getting rejected for jobs that you're otherwise qualified for then you've done something wrong with your CV... if it is just this one application then... well that is ridiculous to worry about - there could easily be another candidate who was a better fit etc..

the managers not hiring someone with more experience is the trend i see all the jobs or even just interviews i've landed is where there is no "manager" and just the CEO or directors usually.

either that or im just up my own *** and rubbish at my job lol :D

Lol this job has popped up again for 10k less money on the job boards

companies really take the ****

at least I now know its because I was too expensive lol
