Thanks for the help a few days ago with helping me sort a new build. I have one last request. Building a gaming PC for a friend as he wants to get on the bandwagan now. He will be playing all the latest games in various comps (mainly FPS).

Will this work. Also if he aint overclocking what CPU? (is there any point for games?)

Also do you recommended any other cooling?

Price aint bad for what you get actually.

Yeah should be great for gaming, not at the highest levels of course but still good framerates and high graphics settings imo

Are you looking to overclock?

The system is pretty decent there, I might be tempted to drop the soundcard entirely or pick an X-Fi lower down the range and spend the saved cash on a 512mb 8800GTS but it does slightly depend on the resolution you want.

Although I'd change the DVDRW to a SATA model probably.

aye no point going IDE these days tbh, particularly as they cost near enough the same. would shave a second or 2 off bootup too as you wouldnt need the IDE controller on :P

Thanks

gone for:

Samsung SH-S203D 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM

also upgraded the mother board to:

Asus P5N-D nForce 750i SLi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
so when the 8800GT gets cheap he can whack another one in there.

Should I go for the Corsair 620 w PSU rather than the 520 if he wants sli in future???

The X38 doesn't support SLi, only Crossfire, but I'd personally probably be going with the P35 still unless you really need PCI-E 2.0 support or are definitely thinking about SLi - in which case an Nforce based motherboard is required.
