The highest polluting vehicles will pay a daily charge of £25 to enter the congestion charge zone, London Mayor Ken Livingstone has announced.

Mr Livingstone also revealed that cars with the lowest carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions will receive a 100% discount from the daily charge.

How is it a sensible move? It's a... congestion charge... designed to cut congestion. Or that's how it was introduced - now it seems to be about extracting as much as possible from people.

thats all the government want. its all about the money, its about the dum de der der de dum, and i dont think its funny lalalalala something like that.

but on a serious not, its just a way for them to make more money, its all they are after ways to tax us more. stupid idea!!

Do you often travel to London with no prior notice then? I can travel to London, First Class, for £40 if I book far enough in advance, a 500 mile round trip.

I would agree, but some people need to travel to London at the drop of a hat in Business. Sometimes I find out the same day and end up paying much more than if I was to book it. You can't win!

Not often, but by the time I've gotten up the train times to suit, they're not available for cheaper advance tickets. Plus most of the time if I want to travel back on a Sunday there's works on the line and I have to change several times + bus

I only disagree on this as a matter of principle - how is that CONGESTION? Tax lorries and buses.

However, if he changed the charge to a pollution charge, I would think it's fair.

Pleased to see he has offset the charges by cancelling those with low emissions, which people fail to praise.

Becuase they are rubbish, miserably, nasty little cars which serve no real purpose becuase all this C02 stuff is exagerated rubbish. If we ALL stopped driving tommorrow the effect on world C02 emissions would not even register on the scale.
