After two and a bit years of praying that my 360 was one of those (nonexistent?) stable ones, it finally gave up the ghost with a dreaded 3 RROD.

Anyways, I got on their website, downloaded the UPS form and arranged the collection for the next day (Friday 14th August).

Roll-on to Monday 24th August (yes, ten days) and guess what arrives for me in the post? No, not my fixed 360, but a brand new shiny 360. In 10 days. 10 days. Oh, and 1 month free of XBox Live.

Is this a record? Anyone else had one repaired and returned so quickly?

I was so pleased, I almost wrote to Microsoft to tell them. Luckily, I came round before I went that far, but even so...

No, you should write! I bet their repairs team gets peed off with hearing nothing but complaints. You should compliment them on your experience and make someone smile.

Ooh, I think you've convinced me.

I'll do it by e-mail though ;)

I've had one in 5 working days. Besides you didn't get a brand new xbox. You got a cleaned up refurb or old chipset in a new shell. Same crappy old insides you maybe surprised to know it may still have the original chipset in. My last return was in a brand new dated case with the Zephyr chipset.

I can't complain though it's lasted 7 months.

My housemate sent his xbox for repair and got a shiny new one just like yours, within 7-10 days. he was impressed too :)
He then sold it on eBay for the price of a new one and bought a ps3 :P

I agree, I don't think you can thank a company for doing the bare minimum to avoid lawsuits on their extremely poorly designed product. You were without a unit for ten days, and then (most people) are getting refurbished units back with used parts in becuase MS have so many 360 parts that have built up.

I'll always remember Sony replacing a faulty PS2 (shortly after launch) by sending a man to my home, picking up the faulty unit and then giving me a BRAND new, boxed and sealed PS2. Whilst I appreciate that was some time ago, I understand they have been doing that during some part of the PS3 life cycle.

Don't get me wrong I love all my consoles, and PC, but MS could have done more and shouldn't be praised.

Surely it would be better to have a console that didn't break in the first place! :p

This, had my 2 year old 360 (which was a replacement) die on me, the replacement for that then crashed 3 times within a week, so back to the shop with that one and now I am hoping the newest one doesn't give up on me.

Never remember worrying when playing console that it could break before. I remember my PS2 had something wrong with the DVD drive but that was replaced from where I bought it from with no further problems and other than that, no other consoles have ever given me any trouble.

Even if mine did break and they replaced it within a weekend, still much better to not have a poorly constructed console in the first place. Microsoft did introduce a lot of new things this generation including the first time people actually predicted at some point they would have to get a new 360 :p

Following on from above, you know it's a pretty shocking state of affairs when you set aside a cardboard box for when you have to send your xbox off for repair as i did last week.

Ain't no way MS are gettin mah original box!

So let us say you have a jasper they are stupid enough to send you a non jasper box back that will not work on the power supply ?

Hahaha I used to put my returns box in the loft but had to keep going to get it every few months. I now keep it closer to hand.

They should supply the returns boxes with cable and drive cut outs so you don't need to unbox it ;)
