Well, i'm now spending the majority of my time on macbook, and due to its almost-non-existent graphics capabilities, the only games that can be installed are fairly old...

as a result, in the past month i have been playing Diablo II & Warcraft III, and i'd forgotten how brilliant some of the older games were! - so well thought out and addictive!

just wanted to post my thoughts that its not always the latest graphic blockbusters that hold the key to good gaming!

might put quake 1 on in a bit :)

really?? is it worth me digging out the disc or was it not compatible with mac? (the reason i'm playing diablo II and warcraft III is the original PC discs include a mac installer :))

EDIT: no matter, i found out that only the later release of Quake III Gold was compatible with os x - i think that may be the one i've got so that'd be good :)

i used to like playin the old doom games (doom 2 mainly) was tempted dig it out and reinstall before i came on here :) the only thing stopping me would be the lack of sound :(, its onnoying i have 2 versions of doom, one has perfect sound but i cant use the mouse the other has NO sound but i can use the mouse, and theres no way i can 'link' them together :(

Duke was good too... and diablo 1(perfect on all windows :))

you could play starcraft without difficulty mate!

completeley OT, but i've seen doom 3 being played on a Voodoo2!

ehhh doom 3 on a Voodoo2??? i used to have one of them years ago, i threw it away :) it was a shame but it was big, unsellable and i couldn't seem to get it working on a 'newer' pc i had ('newer'=P166 upgraded to P2-266) :)

EDIT: i still have an old P3-450 runs all these old games perfect.... buts its on the floor so gives me pains when i play on it :)

I've been at home in Christmas and my PC is sitting unloved at University, so I've had to play on a very old P4 2.6GHZ, 256mb RAM, 64mb Intel "Extreme" Graphics.

I dug out an old copy of Total Annihilation and it runs sweet on it - good memories. Makes me want to get back and reinstall SupCom.

TA for me was sucky, SupCom though i do like more...... but again its not that special...

Now gimme Dungeon Keeper 2 and i'll be happy for hours... :D

Should work fine with Doom95.
Or even better, maybe an updated client like JDoom (which supports OS X)

Due to my pc being broken i have taken to stealing my mum's laptop. Did you know the fx5200go runs source games?

But playing through dungeon keeper 2 currently because of it not running supcom or other new games. Such good times, Homeworld 1, Hostile Waters, Morrowind, Black and White creature isle. So many old school games to play again and beat them if i hadn't before.

im sure there are a couple of star wars games that can be put on the mac, i remember laughing at my mate when he showed me them on his mac laptop.

ags

sell it and buy the real mac lappy.. the macbook pro :D
naah you're alright mate... money wasn't really a deciding factor and i still went for the standard macbook :D (wanted the smaller screen, prefer the look, love the megga battery life ;))

i've got a pc sitting next to it if i wanna play modern stuff, i was just pointing out that the macbook got me playing some old gems ;)

spent the last hour playing Quake 3 :D - another legendary game :)

(however i spend the hour before that working out how to install the bugger... turns out its best to ignore all the id software patches etc and just download and installed ioquake3 - then you use your own cd key and the pak0 file from your cd and your done :))
