I've had enought of vista.

Buying the 64 bit ultimate edition is the worst thing ive done.

3dmark doesnt work unless you get different openAL drivers
none of my folders remember their settings
cant get into device manager anymore
cant get into control panel anymore.
sick of lack of driver support
Sick of the fact you need to hack it to bits to get things to appear in context menus

should I go back to XP ? i've just backed all my stuff up.
Or do you think a 32-bit version of vista would be better ?

and as im writing this my D drive with all my games on it has just dissapeared.

Yeah I've kinda given up using my laptop which is on Vista for anything more than pretty basic things, internet, some work, the odd download, lol.

I'm also pretty sick of folders never remembering their settings, and driver support. The only thing is that it looks prettier than XP. I have no intention of upgrading from XP Pro on my PC anytime soon.

i would quite happily loose 2 of the 4gb of ram I have for a stable working system, I know people who've had worse experiences than me with vista, and although I've not had as many problems as them, I can see their point now

No real problems with Vista here. Few tiny niggles here and there, but nothing that makes me want to downgrade to XP again.

Because it's cool to hate the latest Microsoft operating system ;)

I've got Ultimate on my laptop and can't really fault it. It's been super stable and even with only 512mb RAM, it's nice and quick and can multi-task well.

Don't use this machine for any intensive 3D tasks though so haven't really found any problems in that area. I'm sure if I had it on my desktop PC it would have peeved me off by now though.

One thing I have noticed though is for some odd reason multi-tasking is nowhere near the levels of what I can do on my macbook pro.
Microsoft fans slate OSX for the "beachball of death" but I can't stand the blue circle spinning all the time. Can't do many things without that coming up for a few seconds, becomes tedious even after only 2 days on Vista but other than that its alright I suppose!

Only got this machine for a gaming rig though so shouldn't need to do too much multi-tasking

i've tried to like it, ive tried to get on with it, really.

but have to use ******* cmd prompts with about 50 chars to disable hibernate just seems mad.

it has some really nice features, i can see it's potential, but for me at this moment in time I need a PC i can rely on to encode, game, and doing exactly what I need it to.

EDIT

and all that hassle with UAC is just mind boggling. great for home users, not good for power users

Fully star your swearing.

Hmm I can multi-task fine, absolutely no problems with Vista here whatsoever.

Beachball takes the **** at college on the Macs there, it's ALWAYS coming up.

Olly, you can turn UAC off, it's very easy to do so.

Aye, UAC sucks! That was one of the things that really bugged me.

I've got "Ultimate" not "Home". I'm not a n00b otherwise I would have bought the cheapest version. Still, you can turn it off so at least there is a god!

I didn't know there wasn't an option to turn off Hibernate though. Will have to look at that one a bit more in depth.

The first one is SERIOUSLY annoying. They really need to fix that sharpish. I'm okay with driver support on 64bit for 99% of things myself, the only one that isn't good is my tv card and I'm sure the company isn't making them anymore :/ So I'll be downgrading to 32bit.
