I have just purchased a new Watercooled prebuilt system from OC, few teething problems that was all sorted but something happened to me last night i can honestly say i have never seen or heard of before :(

Wasnt really stressing anything on the GFX card which is a Nvidia GTX 580 watercooled copper GFX card (not OC or anything) and i was in the middle of a HC encounter on World of warcraft and i got a Nivida Error so in effect it booted me from WOW :(

PC running W7 all recently updated etc etc only built thursday night updated GFX driver and everything, got in a bit of a tantrum and slowed up for a bit but then rebooted wow on same settings as before no problems and killed the pesky boss.......

I cant give you an error code yet as i am at work but anybody else had thier GFX card boot them from a game ?

Some of the recent nVidia drivers haven't been the most stable, but skyrim optimisations aside 285.38 seem to be the most stable drivers of any lately (while supporting most stuff) and the newly release 296.10 supposedly have some fixes that were causing display driver recovery in 295.xx.

Was it the nVidiasomethingsomething.dll has crashed and recovered error? I had that problem for ages when the 8800GTX was launched - driver's eventually fixed it for me.

I regulary get booted from gams when I'm trying to find the limits of my gfx oc.

Well to add to this

It happened again last night mid encounter.

I had set everything to max, ultra, multisampling to X8 and shadows to X16, turned few bits down and had no further problems.

only seemed to have happened with WOW but i play that more then anything else so ?

Probably a WOW thing anoying Nivida

I am not Overclocked if that wasnt clear from ym Opening post

What are the clockspeeds of your NVidia card? I know you say you aren't overclocking but a lot of them have factory overclocks which tend to be unstable.

The drivers usually give an error when the card conks out which makes it seem driver related.

its standard out of the box

EVGA GeForce GTX 580 *** Hydro Copper 2 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

I would need to dig a bit more to find out clock speeds

but this is the OC stuff

Core: 772MHz, Memory: 3072MB 4008MHz GDDR5, Stream Processors: 512, Shader Clock: 1544MHz, SLI Ready, PhysX/CUDA Enabled, 10 Years Warranty.

i have only got 1 24" monitor and not running SLI or anything but i had wow whacked right up to the max and got 2 nvidia errors now.

Funny cause i dont raid again now till Monday and i have turned some of the multi sampling and shadows down now so will find out if thats rectified, is it not just the game clashing with a new card ?

more concerned really that it might be something i have not done or need to do ?

Ok really bugging me now

Raided WOW last night got DC twice for Nvidia failing and recovering........ over probably a 3 hours period

Yet last week played 3-4 hours COD MW3 and few Hours of BF3 with no problems

So i take its the WOW causing the problem.

Googled it but cant view battlenet forums at work, someone saying somethign about SLI mode on the GFX card but i am not running SLI, might have to check the setting when i get home then ????

anybody else had this happen to them ?
