Yes another spec me! I'm thinking its time to upgrade my computer - current specs:

Lian-Li V1100
P4 Prescott 3.2Ghz
4x 256Mb HDD
4x SATA Hard drives
2x IDE drives
Dell 2005FPW
Enermax 470W PSU

so I need the following:

RAM: 2/3Gbish (running 32bit windows so < 4Gb)
Graphics card: doesn't have to be great at all as i don't play games or do any 3d stuff (£50ish) however it has to be silent i.e. no fans, have DVI and made by Nvidea (linux support)
CPU: Core2Duo/Quad Duo - has to run cool
CPU cooler: a massive ****off one please so i can run it fanless
Mobo: with lots of SATA ports (approx 6) gigabit ethernet, IDE, no fans

This will be turned on 24/7 and used for Virtual Machine work, programming, general internet browsing, downloading and other bits and bobs.

Budget < £400

thanks guys!

the sharkoon silent egales are suppose to be very quiet, however you could drop it but i dont think a quad will be a good idea then.

i think your options may be quad with fan
e2180 without fan.

mobo has only 6 satas and 2 esata

graphics says silent but not sure if it really is

thermalright ultra 120 is about as big as they come.

i have little idea about low end graphics card, i just randomly picked that one so your guess is as good as mine
