*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

My mate has tendonitis in his shoulder, hes an absolute beefcake doorman type, and hes had to cut a hell of a lot of his exercises to rest it.

take it very easy on it, light weight exercises until it gains a bit more strength id say.

im not very clued up though so get a professional to tell you :)

and yeah powerhouse gym is great. 40 quid stings even more when ya only home a few weeks a year :D

I know this will seem like a stupid question, but I had a cracking session at the gym today and later tonight I'm going out for a few drinks. How bad would this be for my gains and should I even drink? :o (I don't plan to get wasted)

crikey....Chest today...got DOMS already =/ Cool though :p

I need to read up on my chest more, never seem to 'feel' it properly actually on my chest

I know...stupid
I've found out dumbells work much better for me for chest. They allow you to go into a deeper stretch. Keep your back arched and always squeeze your shoulder blades together at the bottom. When at the top, pause for a second and squeeze your pecs. Keep negatives slower. Try to expand your ribcage when you're going down on dumbell flyes.

How are you gripping the bar? Have you tried widegrip bench presses and flys?

Various ways, I try wide grip, and more closer grip.

I always finish on flys anyway, for this very reason :p I thought I'll get myself a BB set so I can do heavier benches but noooooooo...just work my tries constantly. My fault obviously

Indeed....I've always thought of this just due to the nature how dumbells work...How can you work your pecs properly on a BB if the BB doesn't move in that motion? (Not as much anyway) Whereas DB's have that range of motion :(

I dunno, i just find it hard.

Damn DL's work my chest more :o well, across the top anyway

Gotta live a little :)

A few wont hurt.

As I'm sure you know making a habbit of it once or twice a week and getting very smashed, dehydrated and a loss of appetite and binging on takeaway won't help your gains.

One thing I can't stand about drinking is how dehydrated I get. I can see in a good 3-4 litres in the morning and still not need a no.1 and that's after having had a few glasses of water before going to bed and drinking more through the night!

Lol I find when I wake up after being wrecked the night before, because of the dehydration I look really ripped lol.

Same. I always look & feel leaner (whilst also feeling like I've been slapped around the face!).

Same just after some long steady state cardio due to having dropped serious amounts of water.

Just wondering guys, now been on a decent diet for a bit but recently i've noticed gains have been slower and i've started leaning out. Can i assume this means i need to bump my calorific intake?

Been eating plenty of low gi foods and it's nice, i've been able to pack on size without gaining much if any fat, impressive just goes to show that if you stick to what the bb'ing articles suggest you really do get results

Also for my choc myofusion and cookies syntha 6 yesterday, both very nice i actually prefer the myofusion

It's been a while since i've drunk that much, but it makes complete sense - not the best way to look lean though! :D

i noticed this in my late teens, after a night out, of getting completely smashed, i would check my weight on a set of scales and i would be 2-3kg lighter than i was the day before.

was all water though and would go straight back on.

bump it up slowly, dont go crazy and keep adding until you see results. also bump everything up not just calories. you need to bump up your protein, carbs, fat and your training. completely change your exercises in order to surprise your body.

I totally agree about changing routine, i currently am as im gauging what i best respond to anyway.

I'll bump my intake and see what happens, i can always lose fat anyway so if i gain too much it's not the end of the world

I do have some d-aspartic acid coming seeing as im knocking on (36) some swear by it whilst others say waste of time, seems to work best if you have naturally low test levels

But anyway shoulders are broadening nicely, im very good at pec flys yet struggle on the bench press, so today i really focused on that

One thing i have to do is buy a back scratcher, i can get my arms back far enough now my triceps have grown :D

Signed up to my uni gym, £110 for all 3 terms :) Not the best but it'll do. Has a free squat rack so i'll be able to try those rather than doing it on the smith at least.

Just need a budget diet plan now so i can do it properly :D

Budget diet plan, fairly easy lots of oats/potatoes wholewheat bread/bagels etc cheap cuts of meat/chicken some evoo for your fats, and a good protein from a bulk supplier like my protein, bulk powders or bulk supplements direct

Nutrisport 90+ is a popular choice for an all rounder, some folk don't like the taste whilst others love it, anyway it's cheap
