Just letting you lot know that if you're like me and run 1080p, i found the card a bit noisy at first but you can simply turn on vsync and max out your settings, i don't get the need for extra performance or fps when it's unnecessary. :p

Did this really need its own thread? When the cards not @99% load the card doesn't get as hot...

Just trying to let people know, not everyone cares about overclocking for a few more fps that doesn't achieve anything, a lot of sites report the noise and while it is a bit loud thats because its pumping out a load of extra fps that isn't needed by most running 1080p with current games. :)

So kill performance to keep the card quiet?

How are you killing performance exactly?

A million fps doesn't make the game any better, ill agree 120 is nice but for most 60 is plenty, im not sure why the negativity, im sure many didn't realise vsync make the card quiet and they can play all their games maxed, what more do you want?

I don't care either way but you started a thread to tell people this.

I expect a thread next that says "Hey, I found a way to keep the cards really quiet and that is to get a water block or go watch TV and turn the computer off"

V-Sync incurs input lag and that isn't something I enjoy. I am bad enough as it is without help from input lag.

A guy just posts a harmless thread mentioning something he thought could be useful and all he gets is people coming in and letting him know that because they all already know what he's saying its pointless, great what an amazing bunch.

And to be fair vsync and or frame limiting does make the cards quieter just by the fact they dont need to run at full tilt, nobody is making you use it he's just mentioning it.

Yeah pretty poor form tbh.

Just cap your frames at 60fps or what usually works better cap them a few fps under your refresh rate, no screen tear and none of the negatives from vsync.

It still gives input lag, unfortunately. Not as much but it's still there :(
I call it custard mouse :p

Also, vsync doesn't keep the cards quiet it limits the potential load of the card by capping the framerate.

So if the op is playing BF4 and seeing 80-100fps at 1080p does putting vsync not make the cards cooler and quieter by having vsync on 50 or 60 fps? I've only recently gathered you could attempt to stop rendering unnecessary (for me 50fps is very playable) frames to save heat, noise and power because I must be so slow and it's useless testing that with a 8600GT :(

Probably obvious to 99% but silly me didn't think about this when running hot cards like the 6990 or GTX 295. Also I've never really noticed input lag I guess you have to have an eye for it and playing single player games on easy won't make much difference in being 1337 for me lol.

Even though I don't like using V sync, Some of your comments are just plain rude. We are not all elitist in the GFX card world, and I would go on to say he may have helped a few people who just browse the forums and have very little knowledge of cards in general.

No harm done.

I dont notice this input lag at all when using vsync :S

The way some in here are saying its a pointless thread, this is a forum for helping people with their computers, we get loads of people in here who don't know better and the ops info may have been helpful to those who are not in the know. You would have thought it cost the people money to read this thread the way they are having a go at the op.
