As the thread name suggest last time I built a new computer was 7 years ago. And as you can see from the below specs (will upload a picture latter) it is quite funny how crap it is, tried to run portal recently and couldn't even handle at the lowest resolution. :)

Athlon XP 2700+
XFX Geforce 6800xt
1 GB kingston ram

I bought a 24in monitor less than a year back and have always promised myself that I would build a computer that would be able to run games at the full resolution easily. As of friday all the parts to my new computer have finally been delivered (thanks to an excellent service from OCuk, THank you)

I had a pre booked trip down south to see my girlfriend planned so this will not be fully built until probably Tuesday night (cant wait). So will update with further pics when that has been done.

Hope you all enjoy what I have been waiting for, for a long long time (did save up and go travelling for 6 months) that's why I couldn't afford something earlier.

quite a jump is spot on lol 7 years ago :O jeesh are you doing anything special with this build? or just a normal parts into the case type affair?

For now just a parts into case affair, but might look at doing some custom braiding and some other ideas I have l8tr.

For now it will be nice to just have a fast enough computer, got crysis and crysis 2 lined up and ready to go.

Interesting, may I ask why you chose a case with the various connectors at the top? Is it purely for convenience? I do like the look of the case, though.

Partly due to the looks but mainly due to the amazing air cooling in the case. it has 3 180mm fans at the bottom, that plus possitive air pressure means amazing cooling.

And its sexy as hell.

Got excited this morning and built most of the system in 30mins, just got the CPU block to attach and all the wiring to connect up. And the installation of the OS.

Will update with pics tonight when it is done.

Thanks

Just wait until it's full of components and you have to move it though! :)

Yeah I know what your saying already, Just turning this thing onto its side is hardwork, cant wait until I have to move the thing upstairs to the study. :)

So Happy I didn't buy a massive HSF or this would have made it weigh even more.

And I plan to move this thing with me when I emigrate to NZ :) Good times.

There is also less strain on the GFX card as the weight hangs naturally from the PCI bracket.

Im currently running my I5 2500k at 4.4Ghz and the temps are around 58-61c under 100% load.

So the case cooling works.

Not to mention my overclocked 570 not breaking 55 under load last time I checked, Going to overclock that next, Hoping to get 1Ghz Core clock :).
