The 72oz Rump Steak CHALLENGE! FREE(if you finish it in 1hr) or £49.95 if you don't finish @ Hoggit

Personally i could eat it i reckon within 30 mins it doesnt really look that big to me. Boy would i love to have a go but dont live anywhere near. :(

id have a bash, quite confident i could finish it too, im a bit of a pig haha, happily throw £50 at it to find out.

There was a place near us that did this as well, it was called The Cow House. Closed down now though. You didnt get it for free if you ate it though, you just got your pic on the wall.

I think where people would fall down with the challenge in the OP is that you have to eat the salad and chips too. What's the betting theres about 5kg of fries to eat as well?

This is exactly what I was thinking. The steak looks like a big undertaking but probably doable by a reasonable number of people..but adding in the salad and especially the chips makes it far more challenging.

The sides aren't that big, however I think people are under estimating just how much solid meat that is. It's two kilos, put that in perspective a very large burger you'll get two per 500g of mince. Your talking 4 packs of 500g or 8 of the big burgers.

Should you become ill, the contest is over... YOU LOSE! (Please use the container provided as necessary.)
:-/

I've done a 32oz a few times with fries etc and it's not been too bad, but 72oz is ridiculous - especially as it will almost certainly start to go cold and it's not like it's rib-eye or fillet :p

I've eaten most of a 2.5kg lump of beef before. We smothered it in rock salt and then bbq'd it Brazilian style. It was delicious and surprisingly easy to consume tons of.

That was probably over more than an hour though...and I felt incredibly ill the next day from the amount of salt I consumed :p

I do agree with you that people are underestimating how much meat is involved, though. I think I could maybe eat it (if in gluttony mode) but the chips would just make it impossible - mixing carbs and protein is way more filling than just having one or the other alone.
