Won't be in our life time if it does.
A future where AI does all the work and people can just live, is not going to happen until after a massive revolution where the rentier billionaire class is destroyed.
No way the oligarchs are giving up a world where they control all the wealth. Better hope they get put down before they have a robot army big enough to subjugate everyone.

Depends how old you are. We already have robots and we already have AI that can be packed into relatively small devices. Give it five years if that and we’ll see the first autonomous AI powered robots

What if AI has already assimilated with society at large and has created a dumb AI for us to wag our fingers at whilst its actually reprogramming us behind the scenes to destroy ourselves whilst inflicting as much suffering as possible.

Look at computing power just 30 years ago compared to today. We can build robots today no problem. We can build mechanical eyes and ears. We just need the brain part.
I would say it is actually critical for this to happen in our lifetime as the pension ponzi scheme cannot go on forever and most logistics and care are already at critical points.

Wouldn't that lead to the chance of extending human life longer just making the issue worse?
I think that's already starting to happen.

No because you wouldn't need a pension. Money would become irrelevant. At least if done in the correct way.

It is not about becoming a cyborg. You would have a Robot that would give you primary care until you died. It would be fantastic. Better than being lonely in some old people's home.
I can see how that can be a benefit to society and good for some people but not me, if I am left in the unfortunate position I don't have people I love and care for around me in the final years of my life I would prefer it alone not with a robot.

You wouldn't though because the robot would essentially be an extension of yourself. He could take you to clubs etc and meet other people with similar interests. That doesn't happen now unless you are independent.

We can't even automate our transportation yet without it blowing up. Which they have been trying to do way before I was born and I'm in my 40's.

I think we can easily automate a lot of stuff but unions put an end to that.
Trains should have been automated ages ago tbh.
Yeah, so as long as unions are still around. And let's honest they are not going anywhere. Worrying about AI taking jobs isn't a problem due to so many hoops in place. Before we start getting to it's technical limitations.

If AI is going to replace office based jobs then people won’t have money to buy products/services that company's utilising AI sell?
Therefore is AI good for the human race? Unless it is used as an assistant.
If millions of tech and office based roles are redundant the economy will plummet as people won't have money to spend.
Who is buying things from companies that have replace people with AI?
Surely this is not the way forward for humanity? Unless we all get an allowance from the government and then are able to spend our free time as we wish.
Won't people in trades potentially want a bit of that though? Will they be allowed or will they be told to stay in their role ect.
