The All New Manager Merry Go Round Thread

Slot has turned down managing Spurs. They really are in a bad place at the moment. Can't even entice someone over from the Dutch league.

Why would you seriously want to go to Spurs? Conte said it all. The managers are not stupid. You apply for a job and hear the horror stories you generally do not go there do you? This Rubbish about Spurs being a top 6 club has never been there. They have all the gear but that doesn't make them top tier not at all.

I can see Villa, Brighton, Chelsea, Newcastle, City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal all being higher than them next year. 100% the case if Kane leaves. Levy has let the whole club get into this mess. It is all his fault really. The Stadium ironically just like it did with Arsenal bugger them up as for the period when Poch was in charge Spurs were close to the best team in the league without any investment.

Besides Chelsea they all are. Aston Villa may stay above them after Sunday.

I think Brighton have been outstanding this year and with some young players in the squad the future is bright. I can't see them selling anybody easily, especially now they have some European football.

Newcastle, well the Gulf money ain't going to hinder them. Yes they've spent the second highest since their takeover but that's still almost half of what Chelsea have spent in the same period. Chelsea. They needed the investment too.

I think CL is deserved this season for them, not just bought.

Pretty sure Di Zerbi came out a few days ago basically saying that MacAllister and Caicedo will likely be sold in the summer.

The CEO said they don't need to sell any players, I guess any sales will be down to footballing reasons rather than necessity.

E: but who knows in the PL anything could happen.

I'd take the job, it would be nice to start at the bottom!

Its not about needing to sell necessarily. Its about players wanting to leave and the club being able to make a lot of money selling a player they think they can replace.

Over the past few seasons they have sold some of their "best" players and lost their manager and been the better for it.

Another relegation for Allardyce. Saviour myth well and truly busted as well as the rumour (started by him) that he is as good as Klopp and Pep. Needs putting out to pasture and hopefully never works in football again.

You can take an underperforming team. Like Leicester for example and save them quite easily. (The owners waited too long to get rid of Rodgers) but it is really an impossible job to save a team like Leeds with the players they have. Them losing Rodrigo and Phillips was the nail in the coffin.

I can see Leicester coming straight back up. (Vardy is 36 and will not go anywhere and will likely bag them plenty in the Championship) Leeds however I fear for them. Bielsa was everything to getting them up and they dumped him just to stay one more season in the League.

Seems Ange Postecoglou of Celtic is the favourite to take the spurs job, but of a step down :p

Gerrard went unbeaten at Rangers but was a laughing stock in the Prem and Rodgers got Leicester the honour of being the most expensive squad in history to get relegated. I wouldn't go much off a manager's merits in the Scottish League.
