The AMD Driver Thread

Not at PC right now but it's within window update settings area.

If nothing showing up does your motherboard have active LED? On my Asus board when Windows boots from a reset or restart LED will say A0 if I shutdown and switch on windows 10 fast boot will kick in and on LED it will say 40 meaning using hibernation files

So I can see when a failed fast boot has happened and when it's happened in the past amd driver setting also reset.
But I also had a event listing in event viewer about double boot.

Since I done hibernation reset been fine since also fixed my motherboard software for fan control.

Not seeing anything about disabling auto install. I haven't got the creators update on as it was giving me some issues too.

No my MB doesn't have active LED, just the normal LED flashing lights when powering on etc.

When you say hibernation reset, what is that? I thought you could only turn it on and off? And would I even need to reset it since I disabled it right after windows 10 got installed? EDIT: Just seen your post.

How are you resetting it? I can turn hibernation on or off, but whenever it's on, I get the Wattman failure.

Open a CMD window as admin and do...
powercfg /h off
make sure the hidden system file c:\hiberfil.sys has disappeared, if not delete it.
may also be worth turning off the page file and removing c:\pagefile.sys while your at it.
power off.
power up.
turn pagefile back on and 'powercfg /h on' if you want hibernation back on.

other than scrubbing the free space on disk when the files aren't there and possibly running a defrag to consolidate free space to try and force it to use a different part of the disk when it recreates the files - though is probably all overkill - not sure there is much else to do.

Trying to think what else could be causing these issues, possibly something else conflicting with AMD drivers, so let me know the following:

- does anyone use intel rapid storage drivers?
- for those that still use MSI AB to undervolt, do these settings look ok?

jo5K9P4.png

And I've tried to just use AMD's wattman for undervolting but it is too much faff with all the power states and I can't seem to get a stable undervolt with it either, MSI AB is super easy with just there being one slider to control.

- Power plan settings?

Can only answer Intel question I have this driver installed I believe its the only driver I can install for this series Z77
Untitled.jpg

This driver installs the main Intel chipset for Sata driver and is defo a must.

Edit
I use Parkcontrol this switches between low power and high performance on the fly depending how long I have not touched my PC.

I use High Performance mode and Intel RST drivers but I use WattMan to undervolt and overclock (MSI Afterburner just for fan profile). I don't get driver crashes but after I found FireStrike "stable" settings I still got a couple of game crashes and just bumped up the clocks by 10 MHz each time until it stopped happening.

The only downside to using WattMan to undervolt, IMO, is that I can't be arsed to figure out what undervolt would work on the lowest power settings. I've only done it for the highest performance mode (and copied that voltage to the top 3 states). Considering my GPU runs cool anyway I don't see much point undervolting the idle and video mode voltages.

I tried downloading and installing the latest intel RST driver from intel's site but it says my platform isn't supported..... Looked at my motherboard site:

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-P55-UD3-rev-10#ov

But all outdated, max supported is windows 7.

Any idea if I can install intel RST on my windows 10 64 build some other way?

Yeah I'm sure if I give the time, I would find good undervolt settings with wattman but for now, it just seems incredibly tedious, spent 30+ minutes adjusting and just couldn't get a result as good as MSI afterburner.

Hopefully with vega, temps and noise will be great so I can then just drop MSI AB and wattman all together....

Station drivers would be the best place to find. Think my driver is also window 7 dated 2014 I think

Edit
Don't look for motherboard, head to Intel under drivers and storage see if you can find a newer driver.

Had a look under intel but can't see anything either for my chipset (GA-P55-UD3 P55), the site is terrible for navigation

You can usually find the latest versions for the various chipsets on the win raid forums.

http://www.win-raid.com/t29f25-Recommended-AHCI-RAID-and-NVMe-Drivers.html

Couldn't see them there either :p

I decided to just try the ones from my motherboard site (despite being listed as windows 7 64 bit only) and all installed ok...

I doubt my issues are anything to do with this though but worth a shot.

Speaking of which, played a few games before doing the above and no issues/driver stopped responding so no idea why the issue is this random  Yesterday I was lucky if a game ran ok for even 10 minutes.....

I notice the "report issue" button on this driver leads to a non-existing page. That's a bit amateurish. Anyone have a link to the AMD driver bug reporting page? Is this how AMD plan to fix all known bugs ie stop accepting bug reports?

It is also happening with their driver before that one:

I definitely reported an error on the last driver (within a few minutes of installing it) so that page was there and has since been taken down or otherwise lost. No one at the AMD fault team has noticed the lack of reported bugs for this driver and the one before it?

They just assumed they did a very good job and probably threw a party for such great results :p
