*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

HUB recommended it IF you could get it at MSRP because it had a roughly 20% price/perf improvement over the 4070. The problem for a lot of people was you could not get a 7800 XT outside the US for MSRP.

So on paper the 7800 XT was the better purchase. But when you found it was only £20 cheaper than a 4070 it became a case of “nope”. So that second part was all on AMD and scalper retailers.

AMD need to improve availability, make sure scalping is kept at a minimum and that a roughly 20% price/perf improvement over Nvidia is met. Any failure to do this will be down to AMD.

I prefer AMD but if they release another GPU at similar prices to the nearest Nvidia competitor (5070) for 10% extra raster, 15% worse RT and 4GB more VRAM. Then that’s on them and they deserve to fail.

My understanding is the 7800 XT reviewed well and in fact was recommended over the 4070 by many tech sites.
the problem is the "YouTUBE" darlings take a dislike to something it plumets , I do miss Hexus.net but still some decent review sites out there but most people are to lazy to read or even write a review now

HUB verdict.

Bottom line, the 7800 XT marks AMD's first "good" launch in their RDNA 3 series, a notable achievement, albeit 9 months post the initial release. The 7800 XT essentially offers a 6800 XT experience at a discounted rate, with minor enhancements. While it might not be groundbreaking, especially after a 3-year gap, it is satisfactory given the generation's trajectory. So, with limited alternatives, we guess we'll take it.

In other words "meh"

Go watch their video. They said it was a good price if you could get it at the MSRP of $100 less than the 4070, then a “no brainer”. This reflects the underlying assessment that AMD need to be offering about 20%* better price/perf to the nearest Nvidia competitor.

The problem they said was you couldn’t get it at MSRP outside the US.

The failed idea that AMD aren’t the “budget brand” is pure nonsense… because they quite clearly are.

* Note that in this case budget doesn’t mean cheap or nasty and poorly built, just not the “trendy” option. They are the smart option as long as the price is right.

It was, AMD are going to wait for the 5070 reviews, then spend 2 weeks pondering that, then spend another 2 week preparing a response, you're not going to see that response until deep in to February because AMD's mantra these days is always "be patient".

Anyway, like most people i don't sit and watch for every word spoken in a review video, i skip straight to the verdict.

Herein lies the problem for AMD. At no stage was that date and leak attributed to AMD. So when it comes and goes with nothing announced, people blame AMD.

AMD do themselves no favours with their BS to be sure though. Then wonder why people move on from even caring anymore. They just don’t know how to keep interest piqued.

And miss all the benchmarks ? The verdict was at the end of the video

I usually skip to the benchmarks and skip to conclusion and make my own conclusions :)

What like always waiting for everyone looking for a new GPU to supply themselves with Nvidia hardware before coming in too late with their offerings?

"Be patient"

And yet you go around in circles with your totally incorrect “conclusions”. You getting it wrong because you only read the headlines is purely on you.

Its what everyone does, no one sits and watches hours of review videos on review day and they know it, people just want to know what the verdict is.

I mainly only watch gamers nexus and hardware unboxed combined that maybe an hour and others if I have nothing else to watch or do

If you are enthusiastic about it I don't consider it's a waste of time

Wouldn't go straight to the verdict if anything that might be the one to avoid, just look at the benchmarks and make up your own conclusions

No, it really isn’t what everyone does. You do know what the definition of “everyone” is right? Or did you just read the headlines there as well?

Just because the majority can’t read beyond the headline and understand nuance, does not make it “fact”.

I do watch gamers nexus, but to get a broader sense i go to most verdicts.

Just because the majority can’t read beyond the headline and understand nuance, does not make it OK.

We are getting way off topic with this crap, most people don't have time to hang on to every word they say, people want multiple opinions and they don't sit watching the whole video, they skip to the end.

If, and its a big if, it is happening, my guess is 2pm UK time. That's usually when these things happen. Though as we saw with nvidia 5000 series sometimes it's 2 in the morning :P

I do think AMD are going to wait until after the RTX 5070 review, i would say Nvidia should troll them by delaying the 5070 but they did that with the 4070 and with that AMD delayed the 7800 XT by 9 months!

If anything is tend to pay less attention to the conclusion than to the meat of the review. I look at their numbers and make up my own conclusion.

Wow, how novel… we have what is known as a critical thinker. Such a rarity.

Well I’m sorry but Humbug is sick of experts. ;)
