*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

I would have worded that very differently.

Its 47% faster than the 6700 XT with 16GB vs 12GB of VRam for a 4% increase in price.
that would have sold it the 6700xt reputation as the midlevel darling at the time would have helped that pitch

That's horrifying. My in-laws regale us with tales of paying 12% back in the 80s...

What they conveniently leave out is that the purchase price was roughly equivalent to a goat and a bag of turnips :p

...I have a 7800XT as well, a stupid purchase tbh...

Why do you think it was stupid?

I've settled on an all amd system this decade.
9800x3d and 9070 xt...x? Here I come

Going back to the point on "vendor lock-in", I do think AMD have missed a trick on tying their GPUs to their CPU success. There should be much more benefit to having an all-AMD system (even just from a business standpoint).

I recall hardware unboxed saying the 7800xt was the obvious choice over the 4070 at $100 cheaper

Yeah, and the German sales numbers I posted earlier seem to back up that the 7800XT has in fact sold like hot cakes.

We are getting way off topic with this crap, most people don't have time to hang on to every word they say, people want multiple opinions and they don't sit watching the whole video, they skip to the end.

So are you saying most people can’t think for the themselves?

Imagine being so bereft of actual critical thought that anyone would say it’s perfectly OK to have someone else tell them how to think.

It's more I'm tired of the green team taking the wee.

Its just about how much time people have to research, that's all.

FWIW, for something like a major GPU or CPU release, I will watch/read the full reviews from 3-4 "trusted" sites (TPU, Hub, Hardware Canucks, Optimum Tech, others that we've sadly lost now...).

Only by consuming a review in full can you really pull out the nuances and compare/contrast between their opinions.

And, of course, some independent thought is involved in forming your own POV :p

An hour or two invested every few years for a purchase worth hundreds/thousands of dollars is well worth it!

That is exactly what I do and I would hope (not assume) most people who do critical thought also do it this way.

Read the results from trusted sources and make their own mind up on their expensive potential GPU purchase.

Personally with reviews i skip through all the crap. I look at performance charts, power usage, noise and if i am interested in any features will will watch that segment as well. After this i will listen to what they think at the end. I do this with a few video's and also check out written reviews. Doing this you can can get a good overall impression and decide if the cards good or not for your usage. Headlines are there to catch the eye but don't really tell you what you really want to know

They ran out of toilet roll in "Australia" and people in England panic bought it so ....

a week or so back people panic bought milk in Norfolk as it might snow even when the weather forcast said we might get a light dusting then rain

For context it was a stupid purchase because I had an RX6800

That said I'd just got a Samsung 34" OLED to replace my 34" Iiyama (IPS 3440x1440)

I gave my stuff to my girlfriend

Nvidia have now confirmed that the 5070 Ti & 5070 are only 20% Faster Than 4070 Ti & 4070.
Surely AMD can't miss this open goal now can they?

The non DLSS4 results say it all. I had my eye on the 5070Ti but if the value is there on the 9070(XT) I might hop on board here instead.

The 5070 would have made a decent 5060 Ti :p

Been saying it since the announcement - Nvidia are giving us shrinkflation this generation. Everyone expected the prices to go up. Instead Nvidia cut the prices vs 4000-series launch. At that moment, I think we all knew something was up...

If it's true, I can't wait to see the 5060 Ti benchmarks. It might not even catch the 7700 XT if it's only 20% faster than its predecessor  I can picture Stephen Burke's disgusted face on the video thumbnail already...
