*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Initial thoughts were around 7900xt with much better pricing with better RT and Fsr4. Now it's xtx with better RT. AMD have called it a 70 to match up Nvidia 70 cards. These Nvidia 5 series cards are duds and you would expect AMD knew more of what was coming from Nvidia than we do. Maybe they are surpised by just how bad they are but none the less they are not 9080xt's. Who knows on release they might be hahahaha.

No, AMD always said 4080 (non super) for both raster and RT. Most of the expectations are around 7900 XT and if closer to a 4080, then that’s a bonus. So absolutely nothing has changed on expected performance.

What has changed is Nvidia are about 15% below where everyone expected them to be.

So this means the hope for cheaper prices is diminished.

It's depessing to think of it like that though but yea that's the reality.
I'm actually similar to HUB in that the relationship to the flagship tier doesn't really matter to me - I've never needed a Titan or 3090ti or whatever, but appreciate that there's a market for it, mostly successful professionals with no mortgage, grown kids etc.

It's more the cornering of buyers into either buying an overpriced budget card, or the expensive overkill card with nothing in between.

AMD could do very well here, but they really do need to price aggressively (I don't think it needs repeating for the billionth time, but I will anyway). There is still a gap in the market for a cheaper 4090 that neither company is either willing or able to fill.

Show me a link where AMD state 4080 performance. If they did we would not be here specuating rumours.

All I can recall is that Frank Azor said they had heard the positive feedback on 7800xt and 7900GRE pricing, and that the performance was better than the leaks he had seen (this was at CES).

Didn't he say the leaks were wrong or off the mark which could mean anything. The main point is nobody has concreate performance as AMD also said nobody has a proper driver.

If any of my words are missing an r just add it in my keyboard decided no r's unless i press it 3 times. I thought shooters were frustrating.

Frank Azor's comments have all been wonderfully vague. Performance is better than the leaks, the price isn't as high as the €899 leak, etc. If release drivers improve performance by a tiny margin and the price is €889 then technically everything he stated is true

To be fair it beats the absolute bejesus out of "RTX 5070 - 4090 performance, $549" which will be debunked immediately

Apologies, of course AMD have not given any specific performance figures, this thread is all speculation based on leaks and official (yet vague) statements.

Leaks prior to Christmas showed an unnamed new AMD GPU getting just over 7900 GRE performance. When pushed on this level of performance, AMD’s Hank Azore said it would be faster.

Rumours and leaks (obviously never confirmed by AMD) suggested they were aiming for RTX 4080 like performance and were showing just above 7900 XT and below 7900 XTX. What Nvidia GPU falls between a 7900 XT and 7900 XTX in raster?

Current internal AMD testing that has leaked show the 9070 XT falls between a 7900 XT and 7900 XTX in raster and significantly beats both in RT.

So for months expectations have been between 7900 XT and RTX 4080.

To be honest, if it fell in between 7900XT and the XTX with good RT performance, I would likely jump to it if priced decently. (After the dust settles and deal start coming as I'm tight AF)

We are still far away from 4K. My PS5 barely hits 60 fps and that's with a lot of compromises. I doubt even the PS6 is gonna be able to do native 4k at 60fps. Developers will always optimise for consoles first so GPU companies won't feel the need to produce 4K capable GPUs.
