*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Will have a punt at a pulse @ MSRP. The red devil is quite a lot over my theorised budget, as are the others, and I don't actually think they are worth anything more than £650 based on the reviews I have seen.

I'm glad to see AMD have made some strides this time around, I really hope they can carry them over to the next gen and really give Nvidia a run for their money.

Hub puts it at 30% better according to their game averages.

So who do we believe- see above and below.

If we are being pedantic TPU charts say yes 31% difference in performance than 7800xt at 69% of the 9070XT is 44.5% better.

It's nothing to do with being pedantic. It is just mathematics :p.

Hardware Unboxed's average has some games that really skew the results like Counterstrike 2 where it only performs like a 7900GRE and War Thunder where all the AMD cards from 7700xt to 7900xtx are very similar.

Obviously if you play those games, then yes it is worth thinking about. But on the whole, the 9070XT is significantly faster than the 7800XT in most games.

From what i can see, for a hell of a lot of games you'd see close to a 50% uplift or sometimes more.

Hardware Unboxed have it about double the performance in RT at 1440p too.

I'm hoping you don't get a successful connection to OC website before me

Anyone got any thoughts on the ASROCK steel legend?
I was looking at the Steel Legend as well as the Pulse. I was expecting it to one of the higher price cards, but on the site it seems to be priced among the MSRP ones along with the Pulse and Reaper.

Trying not to get on the hype train for a new gfx card, and quietly convincing myself that my 6950xt red devil is still plenty ok for 1440p. It appears to me that the 9700xt perfomranve isn't leaps and bounds better thne what I have already. Is
that assumption correct or not?

Personally I’m edging towards keeping my 7800XT as the uplift in raster is only 30%. I’d want at least 50% better with more vram and I’ll likely get that with UDNA in 2027 or with 60 series Rubin.

Also even though the Ray tracing is better on the 9070 cards it’s still not quite good enough for path tracing as evidenced by a poor showing in Black Myth and Indy Jones (30,15fps respectively).

69% vs 100% is 31 percentage points, not 31%, that's not how it works. :)

If the 7800 XT is GPU A with the 9070 XT being GPU B then GPU A needs to gain the performance relative to its self to reach GPU B, there is an easy way to calculate that, you divide GPU B by GPU A, so 100 / 69 = 1.449, the number after the decimal point is the percentage GPU A needs to gain to reach GPU B, so 44.9%.
To proof it you can simply add the 44.9% to GPU A, 69+ 44.9% = 99.981 rounded up that its 100%.

So the 9070 XT is 45% faster at 1440P

The 9070XT is good value at £569 to £600 but it’s not a slam dunk now I’ve seen the reviews.Games are not consistent performance wise. Wouldn’t pay more than that. On par with a 5070Ti for raster but 25% worse for RT at 4K was Hardware unboxed summary.

RT performance is still lower than ideal , and whilst FSR 4 is good , if the games you play dont support it (eg BF2042 - DLSS only , Hell Divers 2 - neither) then it’s less of a result. All depends on what games you are playing now and in the future. If Dice announced they were supporting FSR4 in the next battlefield game I’d be more onboard. But I don’t think they will.

So back to how much is DLSS and + 25% RT worth above AMD’s offering? I expect the answer is between £100 and £150.

If the 5070 Ti’s drop in price as volume upticks , then it will still be the preferable card. 5080’s or higher are just silly money still.

I’ve seen alerts for 5070Tis at £729 which might be worth the premium.

We shall be taking pre-orders as we have 500 due Friday and a further 500 more due in 1-2 weeks. :)

I can kind of guess the answer but how do these stock levels compare their nvidia counterparts?

Is the difference in stock levels significant?

For people wondering about overclocking.

Well, it's neither made of steel nor is it a legend.

I think it's their lower-end model. Base clocks, average size. One notable thing is it's one of the only near-MSRP models that's white if you both want to save some schekels and match a white case/astetic. The Hellhound comes in white, but looks like that's going to be more expensive/not a base model this round.

9070xt is 23% faster
