*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

I agree with most of what you wrote. The only slight thing is the 500 quid. Now my viewpoint on that is due to what I already have in the machine and what I paid for it so don't take it as a statement that fits all users. However, with a 6950XT in the system that I paid around 600 quid for 1½ years ago, I'm not sure I see the value in a 35% performance bumb for..

Many are in a similar boat albeit the higher end. Paying £700 for a 4070Ti offering nothing to shout about, then a 4080 which was probably the worse in the lineup for another £400 leaving then the 4090 that went up another £200 compared to previous gen prices left a lot to be desired. Just waiting to see what features Blackwell have locked in to see the landscape ahead.

RTX DLSS 5.Maximus, just so it doesn't sound familiar to the catch up FSR 4. Now able to also play your faked framed game for you. But its a subscription so it will cost ya 19.99 a month.

However, with a 6950XT in the system that I paid around 600 quid for 1½ years ago, I'm not sure I see the value in a 35% performance bumb for 500 quid and that is only if the 8800XT can offer XTX performance which I doubt it can in non RT workloads. I think, based on rumours(salt time), that a more realistic raster performance target would be just slight ahead or equal to the XT which would make it roughly 20% faster than a 6950XT and then I really do not see the value, again only because I already have a 6950XT. So my conclusion would be yes it could end up being a good GPU even at 7900XT performance levels if its less than 500 if your stuck on midtier RDNA2 or 3000 series or older. But for anyone above that, so 3080/6800XT or above, its 80% a pass in my mind at the time. Maybe some details will change my mind later on. BUT if it manages a 400 quid price tag, then I'm all over it. Keep dreaming I know :P

I’m on a 3070 with a pathetic 8GB VRAM.

So double raster performance, better ray tracing, more VRAM and lower power consumption for less than what I paid for 3 years ago is something I can definitely buy into.

Assuming by some miracle AMD give us 7900XTX performance at £500……

It won't be 7900XTX, XT at best in the raster department but all being well with better RT than anything RDNA3 has to offer.

Going to be a hard sell for anyone on RDNA 3 with a 7800XT or above even with enhanced RT. Any idea when UDMA will be released ? Are we looking early 2026 or will it be longer do you think ? A bit concerning it will give NVIDIA the chance to eat even further into AMD with a half decent 5070. Seems like they are adding 16GB to these cards this time around which is one of the main reasons I didn't jump anywhere near their 3070 or 4070 cards which I was certainly proved right on with the 3070.

Judging by the 5700xt that was released in July 2019 and was superseded by the 6000 series (with high end offerings) in October 2020, I would expect a similar cadence. So probable Oct/Nov 2026 for UDNA.
