*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Steve from GN says he also found the lack of GPUs shown weird, because in the detailed press briefing that was given to journos, it looked like RDNA4 GPus were going to be announced and shown off but then got pulled for some reason

But who knows, maybe it's not a conspiracy and maybe AMD's poor communication set the market's expectations incorrectly.. but yeah it looks like journos were expecting amd to show the 9070XT with specs and benchmarks

Forgive the question but I only pay passing interest to gpu announcements these days but if amd haven’t revealed anything today, when are they going/likely?

So I hear FSR 4 will not be available on older cards. So much for FSR is free, open yada yada. Lol

For the record I agree with what AMD have done. They need to compete and it just can't be done without hardware support.

They said they would provide more details later this quarter

So before 31 March

Problem is there is no other major PC or gaming focused events before 31 March - so it's likely to just be a web announcement with a short video from AMD

True. If FSR becomes as good as DLSS, that's a big selling point for me. Probably the main one keeping me on team green.

100% this. FSR put me right off. People kept saying it was as good as DLSS, but it was no way near in every title I tried.

I think there is a reason AMD guys played native only, as running FSR degraded image quality quite a bit. Now with FSR4 if they catch up to DLSS people on AMD hardware will start using it.

Good move by AMD imo.

Gotta say, that was one of the worst presentations I've seen from AMD in a long time. The news about Strix Halo was interesting, some of it at least, but most of it was useless filler no one asked for.

Lol. When even you are saying this, must have been dire. Glad I did not bother.

Not so fast./ the problem is since FSR4 is not a transition from FSR3, it's not going to be like DLSS whereby you simply swap out the dll and boom, every game using DLSS is enhanced. The game dev has to update the game for FSR4, and then FSR4 will also only be usable on the new RDNA cards.

So yeah whilst it would still be good, it won't be anywhere near as good, still.

They also need a reason to sell you a card.

People buying their GPU's in the first place seem to be all about native, so it won't appeal to them.

It just makes sense tonstop getting slaughtered by DLSS and provide us with something as good or better.

Going around that it can work out the box with FSR 3.1 games, around 50 of them out now.
