Haha. Yep. It runs everything I throw at it (that I am currently interested in playing) :p

Nothing even on the horizon that I want to play that needs the graphics power. Next one I think might be Resident Evil 2 Remake.

We're all doing it wrong man, we all thought we needed a 1080/1080Ti for 4k but NOPE, the super secret card to use is a ****ing 7970!!!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Hahahahahaha. You are cracking me up here Jedi :D

Well, I am playing a Deus Ex mod right now and no word of a lie it is maxed out at 4K and runs silky smooth man :p

Next up I am planing on playing Resident Evil Remake which will easily run, then after that I will be revisiting Half Life games which I have not played in years thinking I should wait and play it when Half Life 3 is about to come out, but that is never going to happen by the looks of it.

FIFA 17 runs easily for the odd footy. As for the fighting games I am playing like Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5, Dead or Alive 5 and they all run perfectly fine on my 1080p Plasma as I like to play them on the big screen :D

Here is a list of games I am waiting for, but they are all 2018/19 games:

System Shock
Star Citizen
Final Fantasy 15
Cyberpunk 2077
Daymare: 1998
Resident Evil 2 Remake
Dying Light 2
Shenmue 3
Final Fantasy 7 Remake

;)

Hi guys, sorry if this has been asked before but there are a lot of pages! I am looking at building a new PC and was considering a GTX 1080Ti. However I just heard about these GPU's that should be coming out soon. Can someone tell me if any of the cards will be comparable to the 1080Ti and if it's worth waiting?

I would rather go AMD if they are comparable as I can then get a Freesync monitor..

Cheers!

Definitely worth waiting.

We don't know where big Vega will sit but good money's on it being the better option if you're considering a Freesync monitor too. Even if it is a few frames behind the ti.

Well i got a 560ti and a radeon 5850 if you are feeling adventurous. I however will just stick to my 1080ti..I'm having the best of romances with it right now..

Personally I don't think RX Vega will be faster than the 1080ti. Going by Vega FE results it is likely it'll be midway between 1080/1080ti at best.

Having said that, if bang-for-buck is important to you, it may be that AMD will price it competitively, making it worth considering.

If I were you I'd wait at least until we see RX Vega (AMD has 3 events coming up and then SIGGRAPH) to get some idea of where it stands. So we're talking a couple more weeks until you have some clear indications of what RX Vega will perform like. You can then more easily choose whether to wait further or just get the 1080ti.

Hoping the money I've got saved for Vega AIO is going to be enough to stretch to a new PSU as well...

edit: just seen that all the high wattage PSUs are out of stock as well, dam miners...

You may as well wait ...see how Vega mixes things up ....

Really short summary:

Nobody can tell you if any of the Vega RX cards will be comparable to a 1080Ti because nobody knows. It's probably worth waiting because information should be available late July or very early August.

Short summary:

AMD released the Vega Frontier Edition, which is meant for low-level development and research work. It's not pro kit because it doesn't have the certified drivers that requires, but it's not home kit either. Bit of a niche market, but it is a real market. It has a gaming mode and AMD lightly mentioned it mainly in the context of someone who wants 1 machine to both do game development on and game on.

People bought them and reviewed them for gaming. They were mediocre - between a 1070 and a 1080 but using far more power and generating far more heat, so much noisier and with little or no scope for overclocking. Also, they're over £1000.

AMD have mostly ignored that, but have replied saying (truthfully) that Vega FE isn't really meant for gaming and a different version - Vega RX - will be released soon that is meant for gaming.

There is a lot of speculation about how much difference will exist between Vega FE and Vega RX. A lot of speculation...and almost no information. The GPU will be the same, but it is possible that the FE drivers don't efficiently use it for gaming. Maybe RX will be far better for gaming than FE. Maybe not. Maybe it will be significantly cheaper than nVidia cards with similar performance. Maybe not. Maybe it will use much less power than FE. Maybe not.

An example from our measurements: If the card is 1.440 MHz at 1.1 volts, we measure a current between 10.5 and 11 amps on the 12-volt supply cables depending on the load. If the clock falls to 1,348 MHz at 1.05 volts, the currents fall to 8 to 8.5 amperes. In other words, between the two clock stages, up to (circa!) 50 watts of power consumption.

Meanwhile, we have been dealing with the Undervolting of the Frontier Edition for a few hours and can tell a lot of good things. After the card had already completed all 1.600 MHz game tests at only 1.1 instead of 1.2 volts (see benchmark section of this article), we have further reduced the voltage test by way of test. With 1,075 Volt via Wattman, our retail store is still rockstable, all game benchmarks run smoothly and without graphics errors at 1,600 MHz. The power consumption of the entire PC is at the same level as the factory setting, although we have set the power limit to +50 percent. The latter ensures that the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition does not slow down temporarily, it should run into the power limit. We also allow the card to have a higher fan speed. With 1,060 Millivolt (whether this voltage is set 1: 1 or directly to 1,050 Millivolt, we do not know yet) came to the first crash.

Undervolted card didnt seem to be able to do Pro work but in games 1600mhz + undervolt was no problem. RX models will probably be undervolted and 225-250W range, with some help with less HMB.

What a brilliant summary, like seriously good. :)

The thread should be locked until the cards are released.
