I'm not sure what stock will be like come launch any how - could be most people are waiting until September anyhow (now I've said that they'll go and launch with tons of stock LOL).

It's not like we have much choice in the matter. If the reference vega cards are anything like reference frontier edition cards, they'll run 85c under gaming load constantly, thermal throttle and drop clocks -250 Mhz to -400 Mhz. That's how stock frontier edition works. So personally I'm waiting for aftermarket cards myself.

Hoping and praying for some sort of "Sexy beast version" with custom PCB with extra power phases and such.

FYI I called and contacted the support divisions, XFX and MSI are the -ONLY- 2 companies that will let you remove the factory heatsink and install a waterblock without voiding the warranty.

Gigabyte will usually "allow" it - unfortunately though it seems not everyone in the company is singing from the same sheet and might encounter someone who rejects an RMA due to it requiring escalation or even hitting a brick wall if you are unlucky (EDIT: and/or you are a bit at the mercy of the individual technician if they consider it the "source" of the fault if the card has been disassembled).

That rumour comes from Gibbo, and at the moment it's just unsubstantiated rumour from one of the AIB partners. Even Gibbo said it could be BS, but the tech press are reporting it as fact...

I really can't wait for this mining fad to mature into something useful that doesn't involve pouring megajigawatts of electricity into melting GPUs so people can make money speculating on bits of data. Or just die off altogether.

Banks aren't perfect, but at least a big chunk of the money and energy they consume goes into employing people and providing credit which keeps the real economy ticking over.

TBh i think it's ********. Lets think logically. Vega 64 is a Furyx on a die shrink. Not a whole great amount of IPC on Vega 64 vs Fury x just it has better clock speeds. I think MH/s wise its going to be slightly better than FE. looking around 32 - 35 MH/s

It won't die off any time soon. More likely grow much bigger. The block chains are essentially sustained by Intel, AMD and Nvidia and even all combined they are going to struggle to keep up with the demand for more power.

I was interested to see Gibbo looking for a way to sell cards at MSRP to non miners (see Videocardz article). So if you wanna do that for Vega what about RX580? I mean I am happy to sign a disclaimer promising (a) not to sell it for mining (b) not to use it for mining, if I could just get an MSRP RX580 8Gb. I want to use Freesync and game a bit. I've got Nvidia cards I can mine on if I must mine.... but I want a Freesync card. So @Gibbo help me please?

I think sooner or later this particular tech bubble is going to burst and the people invested in it are going to realise that while our banking system isn't perfect, it's preferable to having a handful of people in charge of mining farms in China controlling our financial system.

The whole thing is reliant on a point of principle (banks are bad) rather than practical application.

Gibbo is in the news again !!!

Sorry @Gibbo but if you really want to stop miners from buying up Vega then don't help spread the awareness of VEGAs mining capabilities no ? :P Admit it :) you like selling to them for a huge profit margin, i dont blame you its good business.

Poor Gibbo didn't say anything untoward, he just told the truth. The way some of those sites are carrying on you'd think he'd been on the phone telling anyone who would listen Hey Vega is ace for mining tell all your miner friends:D

it's simples .. just 2 cards per address in the uk only ..
you know it's a miner when they order 5 at a time or have a non uk postcode ..
well that's if you really want to help uk gamers

Crypto is not just about storing your money.

Oh great anothe UK company that'll refuse to ship to Ireland then.

Good way to push more to competitors.

You're right it's about tech bubble investors speculating on the latest buzzword while in reality the technology is a worse solution than than the systems already available ;)

Who needs to argue at someone over the phone when technology makes it fair everytime. Not only that but its faster cheaper and more reliable.
