Go back 60 years and you could hand make your own ram with weaving strands of copper. Go back 30 or so and you'd have 4k ram to play but also you could alter the code on the program however you liked after pressing ctrl-break. Theres always plus and minus to the current meta.
Its not clear, if Vega features add upto nothing. If HBM2 was pointless it does appear likely Nvidia got the correct route and with more efficiency. It'd be good if both proved some worth
It might be relevant this time in being an ironic positive deterrent to miners. If 580 runs at 100 watt and vega is well over two to three times that, its unlikely much of a choice for them. If HBM2 is a massive bonus for mining for them or somehow other features then maybe it works for them

Is another option not to run at 140 fps and it doesnt matter anymore with a 144hz monitor (presuming ultra settings are not worth it). Or is nothing ever close to as good as gsync or freesync

Makes sense if you have the Freesync monitor already. The reviews should give you a good idea what to expect.
There will always be another card that's faster coming down the line. In 6/7 months when Volta is released, there will be rumours of Navi and whatever Nvidia have planned after Volta. If you think like this you will never buy anything. IF Volta was imminent, it would be a different story of course, but it isn't.
And look at games right now, a 1070 plays everything at 1440p. If the RX Vega turns out to be 1080 speeds and when you combine it with a Freesync screen you will get a great gaming experience.
1. I got allergy for everything. Spent one evening at my mates birthday two weeks ago. They got dog and cat. Next 3 days i ended up with shivers cold sweat and 39c constant. Before they diagnised my allergy i was in hospital for 2xweeks due to high fever thats how bad i got it.
2. I got haphephobia that is my main source of permament depression. Therapy did not help
Basically i cant have any close contacts with other humans. Im ****** till I die so i spend most of time in virtual world ehere i belong.3. I git solution for my depression but cant talk about it on ocuk forums cause i end up vaned for week or two again.
4. I was born in Poland living there on 250 wuid a month wage is full on downer
5. I do 10k running and working out 30-60 minutes every day to keep my endorphin levels up.
Basically i will do anything to stay off my BAD SIDE.

I think that even tho vega failed in my etes at least miners will buy it so amd will have mobey incone. On my polish forums 10 people WARE waiting for Vega this week 8 gotten NV 1080 or 1080ti just to put it in persoective. And as i mentiobed Wages in poland are 1/4 th of uk ones. Guys ware saving for YEARS for new gpu.

Is it? Just bought 6 lamb chops and it come to £12.60 Was left feeling a whole lamb can't cost much more.

work with a few lads from over there 2nd chefs been there for a month with his wife (she's polish)
brought me back a few bottles love the stuff
depending what you do over there money is good or bad ..
buying a few chicken breats can certinly be more expensive than a whole frozen chicken

I popped by for Vega news and you're discussing meat? Is it really that bad? 
I am hoping AMD do well with it but can't help but be disappointed that two years later nothing wipes the floor with my 980 Ti for under £700. At the same time I'm pleased I can still run most games maxed at 1440p without issue.

FE doing well against the 1080 in Fallout 4.

Very weird at some points it's as fast as the 1080ti and others slower than the 1080. It's not a bad showing as i think this game likes Nvidia hardware more.

Seems like Titan was a good choice then.
There was some hope Sterling was strongly recovering from its low 1.2 but its now groggy at best, teetering on the brink of falling back to 1.28
So thats likely ruined a quick enough return to 1.4 in time for Vega purchases
Volatile performance hopefully it can be evened out

. The clock on that FE was running a lot of the time down at 1440mhz. I don't think i seen it touch 1600 once so there was more performance to have.Actually coming to think of it, this could give a good idea of where an OC'd RX 56 should be (providing they don't power limit it through a locked bios or something like that) . If you could get lets say 880 mhz ish out of the HBM2 and 1550 ish out of the core I would expect it to perform something like this vega that stays around 1440/945 (maybe even better).
It also gives an idea of where a ref 56 will be out of box, I would say around 8/11% slower
EDIT : Hey can't the HBM2 be downclocked yet on Vega, or is it just full speed or 500 ? I'm guessing it can't be downclocked otherwise somebody would have already simulated 56 speeds with their Vega FE I guess

Well it was partly confirmed that Vega FE is not using the majority of Vega specific features yet. But the 17.8 driver is supposed to activate the majority of them, along with DSBR and other power saving features. We are essentially looking at Vega running at max possible power usage with current Vega FE.
Did the 1080 die on you? What Brand was it?
