I think this is normal from what I've read. The article does say don't panic when you see high temps for the memory and it won't start thermal throttling till 110C so guess this is as expected for a FE.

I just installed thermal pads on my backplate (none previously) and new ones on the cooler (13w/mk all round), and it reduced my mem temps from 110 to 82! Amazing that gigabyte were so cheap on a high end part. Fans no longer hot 100% under any condition I've found so far

Backplate is now too hot to touch, so bought a small aluminium heatsink to sit on top

sure, will send a PM shortly. for the 2mm, i stacked 1mm as, as you say, 2mm is rarer than hens teeth at the moment. juts was extra careful to roll the stacked one along slowly to prevent air bubbles

Hello, did you turn Gsync off? I was getting 17100s too first, but then after disabling Gsync it rose to 17300s. Still lower than expected at stock. Did you come across any fix? I made a post about this a few minutes back. I have a 5600x paired with the 3080fe.

Got the same set up, 5600x with 3080fe.

I dont think there is any fix. It appears 17k score is somewhat common. Oddly enough turning gsync on or off does not change anything.

Looking at 3dmark statistics, average score for 5600x + 3080 is about 17.5k and considering this is all 3080 (fe and aib) it could be argued that 17k score is within margin of error. I mean its just 3% below.

The issue is definitely not PSU as I swapped that out for a new one. Does not appear to be a software issue either. Might be something to do with a mobo - x570 pro carbon in my case.

But 17.3k score that you have is within normal average score, so I dont think you need to fix anything.

Undervolt that thing. I got mine at 1845 @ 818mv with +700 on memory. RT stable, much quieter and gets around 17.4k timespy score. Good enough for me.

I've noticed my score has got steadily lower since launch where I got 17500 at stock and 18300 overclocked to now 16900 and 17400 so maybe nvidia has slowly dialled back performance in the drivers.

Hmm it’s certainly not margin of error in my case as I’ve run it several times. I’ve not crossed 17345. And my overall score is low too at 14873 when the average is 15,500. Only explanation is that the average is high because of oc numbers in timespy.
Given that you have a 5600x, what’s your cpu score? My best was 8286. Don’t know if this is normal or bad. Cinebench r20 multicore was around 4250-4298(no pbo,only XMP enabled).
I’ve a strong feeling that my cpu is pulling my graphics scores down, since timespy favours more cores and people with a 3800x and 3700x score more. Idk just a guess. If you can run a superposition 1080p extreme preset bench let me know. I’m at 10600-10800. And one more thing that’s weird, my fe doesn’t cross 65degrees. I have the default msi afterburner fan curve but that’s still way too cool for my 28-35c ambient. Without the curve the max I’ve seen it reach is only 73. Heard that fe is a pretty hot card hovering around 75-80 at 21c ambient, I guess I have proper air flow with 8 case fans. Not too sure.

Yes, this is one possible explanation given the crashes that many aibs were facing during launch. Do you own an fe? And also what cpu?
