Is anyone looking forward to this? The book and original film were great, both sci-fi classics and Michael Crichton is a legend. If you haven't read Jurassic Park, read it - it's much better than the films imo in terms of science and as a thriller (though JP1 the film was extremely good).

Anyway hopefully the remake lives up to the original :).

Ridley and Tony Scott are doing it and it's got a pretty good cast, so I don't share the same pessimism as you. I think it'll be exciting and appropriately "dressed-up" for the 21st century :).

Loved the original and I'm surprised they've got Scott involved so it might not be a complete flop.

As far as relying too heavily on CGI, they'll obviously use some but I can't remember very many scenes from the original that would make the use of CGI necessary in the remake apart from the organism evolving/mutating.

As long as it features split-screens, 601's, monkey killing and a fat bird in glasses to serve as eye candy, then I'm all in favour of a remake.

I have say the whole 'TV mini-series' bit sounds a bit ominous, but Battlestar Galactica didn't turn out so bad. So maybe there's hope. Thanks for the heads up on this. :)

Its unfortunately very bad, none of the suspense which the original had. Its a poor tv remake, with totally unnecessary plot additions. Amazed the the scotts had anything to do with this tbh.
If you've seen the original you'll hate it! If you've not seen the 70's version don't spoil a good story on this remake
