Okay, I have a win 8.1 all latest updates, Powercolour radeon r9 270x running latest 14.9 drivers only - not catalyst - after uninstalling everything and running DDU in safe mode.

This has fixed a lot of errors I was getting except one thing crops up: 'The AODDriver4.2.0 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the path specified.'

All references on the net say this is for ATI overdrive, and you need to uninstall this driver via admin rights in device manager, under hidden devices 'non-plug and play'.

I do not have this tab to select. Tried user variables 'devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices 1' but still not showing up.

Has this option been removed from windows 8.1?

Only other reference I see of AODDriver4.2.0 is under registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Services/AODDriver4.2.0

But there is nothing under program files, or the imagepath suggested in registry does not exist.

Is it not possible to add non-plug and play to device manager in 8.1?

Can I simply delete this registry folder?

What next!?! and thanks in advance!

You can run "sc delete AODDriver4.2" from an elevated command prompt to get rid of it cleanly.

I've seen similar before in Windows 8.1 where the previous version hasn't been cleaned up or the newer version isn't installed correctly.
