Bit of a daft question, but complete Apple Watch n00b. If I left my phone at home and took out my watch, would you still receive the notifications? Txt email etc? Or would I have to have my iPhone near at all times for bluetooth to work...

Would depend if you were connected to WiFi. Your watch connects to wifi networks your phone has connected to. If you connect to wifi you get iMessages etc.

Cool, thanks guys :) still getting used to stuff. Still baffled how there isn't a whatsapp app? Yet notifications come through but I can't choose to start a conversation. No bookface either.

I've read about this before but I've never actually experienced it. I did put my phone onto airplane mode at home and tried to get some messages in but they didn't appear until the phone was re-enabled.

So still on my original watch. Reluctant to sell it, given the pap prices people are selling them for.. I'd be giving up a Sapphire Crystal, SS first gen, and putting an extra $200 to get a sport series 2. Ion-X aluminum. Now with Watch OS3, its transformed it completely, and makes it feel like a new watch. So i'm holding onto it for now.. Not prepared to drop an 'additional' $400 to get a SS sapphire series 2 after selling the existing, so i think the sport will always feel like a downgrade.

Question tho, to those who have upgraded. How much snappier is the series 2 over the original ? Really the only app i really use is the fitness app, and it does everything at speed i like now..

The only other thing that would justify a series 2 over the original is that I do like the idea of swimming but other than that, the gps feature, thinking about it, i rarely if ever do not have my phone close by or with me.

I am keeping my original SS model, it works perfectly for me now with WatchOS 3. The only reason I would change is if the chassis was sleeker on the next model.

Anyone noticed a speed difference with the dual core if you came from an original Apple Watch?

Honest answer, not really, no. That's comparing it with the original Apple watch with watchOS3 though and I've got my most commonly used apps in the dock so they open straight away.

Seriously thinking about returning it - The addition of GPS is very nice and all that but with hindsight, I've always got my phone with me. Do I really need it? Quite possibly not.

I've taken the new one off and gone back to the old one. If I don't miss the extra bits, it'll go back.

How long do you have to return it? Even if it's been opened and set up you can still return it? I was thinking the same (unsure as of yet but will decide in the next day) I got the SS one and currently thinking that could be £600 back sat in my bank! Decisions....

Fourteen days. Yes, it's an unconditional return so no problems at all.

I'm leaning more now towards returning it for a refund. How about you Feek?

Which one did you fella's buy ? Sports or SS's ?

eitherway, even if it was a sport. $400 is a decent chunk of change. Something better to spend on, than needing to not have your phone with you, when you go for a run ! The original is still IPX7 waterproof. So you can't go diving upto 50meters in it... but it'll withstand being on your wrist and being pushed in the pool by your mates !

The only thing stopping me sending this back is that I've noticed battery life on the original watch is now significantly worse. When I slap it on the charger before bed, it's always around 20% lower than it was on watchOS2. That's quite some drop.

Got a despatch notification finally yesterday. Should come in 5 days. SS 42mm. Currently got the series 1 but want the better water proofing mainly.

I've ordered a 42mm silver aluminium series 2 with a pearl woven nylon strap. Shipping time is 5-7 weeks.

Most likely I'll pick up the orangey looking nylon strap too. I do like an orange watch strap.

Yeah i've noticed that too, wasn't sure if it was just me. Hopefully an update will sort it. I suspect its due to the always updated apps.

Seems odd so many of you are thinking of sending it back, as its a large update.
Larger battery, GPS, water proof, brighter screen for readability outside, much faster chip.
