I invested in a new camcorder recently (Panasonic AG-UX180) and travel to airshows (both full size and large scale radio controlled aircraft events) around the UK. The visual quality from 4K cams is so much better than HD and the picture looks significantly better even if you've only got a regular monitor. Sharing some of my recent videos...hope others will do same.

When playing the video ensure that the highest playable resolution is selected (gear button in the bottom right of the player). True 4K (2160p60) will not play that well on traditional monitors so select the next lowest down (1440p60).

I don't think 4k vs HD is really all that important for stuff like this, surely the bigger leaps come with having better lenses/equipment just like in still photography no?

Not trying to have a go but for example (haven't watched the whole clip but) if you look at your footage there in the first clip from say 2:24 or so onwards the clouds keep going all pixilated - if that is down to the camera rather than anything afterwards then I assume that having to process the footage at 4k rather than say HD perhaps isn't helping things there (though perhaps that pixilation is down to youtube or my browser)

Yup. I don't get that pixellation on the RAW 4K or rendered vid so it's not the camcorder. Despite that I think 4K looks much better on YT than 1080P HD. Hopefully YT will sort their end out one day.
People have the option to actually download the videos though so quality can increase if you do this.

Youtube heavily compresses things so 4K never looks great on it.

Actually when Youtube detects a 4K video being uploaded and doesn't use the same comrpession as 1080P uploads. It's the reason some Youtubers now upsample to 4K, even if the source is 1080P, just for the higher bitrates and cleaner picture.

The only thing I was interested in is native 21:9 support, but since YT still have not put it into the player, Ultrawidify addon for Chrome and Firefox fixes that in one swift move. Superb addon, works in Netflix too.

Where is the option to download the original 4k source?
You have to use a third party application. Im not sure its source but its much better footage when downloaded then watching it Live if that makes sense. I use a program called 4kVideoDownloader

I think 4K is a nice upgrade to HD but wait until 8K comes along. It should be mindblowing with 33 million pixels.

You can tell when video is filmed at 4K because the colours and clarity of picture are so much better than 1080p.

Ahh 8K, where you need to sit two feet away for rational screen sizes or have a monstrous 60+ inch minimum screen.

Ha and people are even talking about 16K. Which surely must be overkill unless you have a whole wall of your house as a screen like in Arnie's Total Recall. :p

I hope that on the path to 8k, HDR picks up mainstream acceptance and simply comes part and parcel with ultra HD resolutions, it's an amazing addition. It sounds like a gimmick until you have watched/played content with it, so I hope it can overcome that stigma.
