The Battlefield 4 Thread 2015

Few shots of my 980Ti progress this afternoon. Not really relevant to BF4 but I think some of us are thinking about going h20 so thought I would share :)

I'll be interested in your results in bf4 kiwi as like yourself I've moved from sli 780. Albeit at a lower res but I've tried 1440p in this game using DSR.

Sure, will record some frame times without GSYNC on tonight (780) and then when I get the 980Ti going perform the same test. It should be a lot quicker than my single 780.

No idea on games but in stuff like firestrike, 3d mark. A single 980ti was similar to stock sli 780. Iirc with mine clocked I was getting just over 16000 in firestrike.

Try DDU smartcar.

Although I think BF 4 is a game where AMD's DX 11 optimisation is generally very poor as my 290 sucks when it comes to Dx 11 performance even with everything on low/off, with mantle, performance is A LOT better.

It's cause its AMD. Great cards, crappy divers.

Nvidia isn't any better when it comes to drivers, the only area where AMD drivers are poor "lately" are for crossfire users and even then that is blown out of proportion.

So I have decided to move to csgo as I cannot get 120+ fps on my card even with low settings....rubbish card

Don't do it Smartcar! We need you on the BF!!!

I thought potatofactory was an ocuk member. I swear I've seen him play with us. Look at the links in Maximus Fleximu's post

PF is CFA, Nexus played with him a lot, and as a result several of us have played with and against him. He's a beast.

Are you the new AMD Matt? AMD are well known for having crappy drivers Nexus and I've owned both types of cards running single and multi card setups. Don't get me wrong, AMD make great cards but their drivers have always been a step behind nvidia.

I have AMD and have rarely had driver issues. It's never taken more than updating my drivers to fix it either.

I really don't get the AMD crap drivers argument sorry :(. I've just never experienced it.

No, why are you the new mmj_uk? :p

I am not saying that AMD are any better than nvidia, but to say they are down right crap is just rubbish, yes crossfire isn't great atm (a few issues with a handful of games) but single cards are perfectly fine.

I have not had any serious problems with my 290, 7850 and 4850. The last 2 or 3 nvidia driver updates have brought nothing but problems for the majority of users

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18675135

+ majority of nvidia users are crashing in the witcher 3 and now GTA 5 and nvidia were not spending much time or/and money optimising performance on any cards before the 9xx cards until people started to notice the huge difference in performance between a 780ti and AMD 280 in the witcher 3 etc.

SLI isn't perfect either, still an awful lot of people saying about gsync and SLI having micro-stutter.

I don't play the witcher 3 Nexus so can't comment on the game. My opinions are based on my own experiences using crossfire, SLI and also single card setups and browsing the graphics sub forums. Take what you want from that but I stand by my comment that nvidia drivers > AMD. I don't really see how pointing out one thread relating to nvidia driver issues supports your point. I'm aware of the fact that there are issues with nvidia drivers, like any software but pound for pound I think nvidia are ahead in their development and testing of drivers. I could be wrong but I also belive they release drivers more often.

Fair enough if that is your experience and own opinion.

I won't deny that nvidia have a better overall "software/driver" package but in terms of performance and stability, I wouldn't classify either brand as being any better than the other, well, I would probably say that AMD are better for stability now and supposedly one of the reasons they are taking longer to release drivers is because they don't want to release them when there are problems, at least according to matt anyway....

Yes you aren't wrong there, over the last 6-7 months, AMD have been very slow with drivers, more so for the crossfire side of things but like I said in another thread, I'm not really surprised considering the majority of games that they have problems with are nvidia gameworks sponsored games... I also think that they have been spending a lot of their time and money on windows 10 along with the new fury/3xx drivers so once those are done with, things should speed up.

They seem to be in the middle of doing a big revamp too, much improved performance on windows 10 with current cards, crossfire freesync and new features.

I want to try and hold onto my 290 for another year but if batman runs crap on my 290 and the new AMD cards are crap and we have a good choice of gsync screens then I will jump to a 980ti.

how is the latest patch Nexus? I heard it wasnt that great even though there are something like 7.24 million fixes in the patch lol. Will have a day long session with you tomorrrow dude, off to cinema tonight to finally watch Mad Max.
