I am about to move home this Friday and am currently on cable.
The new address is not serviced by cable

I have been looking at all the services and just want to make sure I have the best one. I need the following.

at least 2mb
unlimited downloads (not even fair usage)
Cheapest price

Download a lot of p2p

I have seen a package from Tiscali

option 1
2mb free weekend calls £14.99
or option 2
2mb all calls £19.99

I want to know if this is the cheapest around and what there services are like.

I have checked bulldog but dont know the phone number of the BT line yet. Can anyone recomend any others.

Thanks

I have heard Tiscali aren't very good. Demon may be worth a try though, if I didn't have NTL then I would try Demon. They have a FUP but it seems genuinely good and you'll be hard pushed to find a good priced ISP with no FUP at all.

You don't want Tosscali, they aint unlimited, they have an FUP, and they traffic shape, i got off those cowboys last May, i was only getting 20k down on p2p, and a zero upload because of their shaping and i was on 1mb, if your on MAX 8mb you only get about 30k down, and if your a gamer forget it, in fact you cant do anything on Tosscali, even if you browse to much they will send you FUP warnings, and after 3x you get put on the bad boy pipe where your speeds are crippled even more, so don't do it stay away. :p

UKFSN do a standard 2mb ADSL service thats totally unlimited, no FUP's etc... :)

Yeah as above, if you can get Be* id give them a look, they are unlimited to, not starting at my exchange till end of May, but seen as im on a monthly with UKFSN im going to jump onto those when they start.

I dont seem to get any limits on the pipex connection that we have here.

Paying £17.99 a month for a 2.2MB connection. May be upgrading to the 8MB connection soon.

Fair usage policy. Its where if you use the internet 'too much' they fashion a mannequin of your internet connection and stab it with many sharp pins till you lose the will to browse

*Tiscali 'too much' is 1gb per week of evenings.

Most isps will hate on you for using p2p to any extent, you would be best off going with a package that gives allocated bandwidth per month. Stick to that and you can at least argue your ground.

The best one I saw did that and if you exceeded your allowance they reduced speed to 256k so no hidden blocking, etc That is still 5 times faster then a modem and 10 times better latency so not exactly a hardship really

I used to have NTL cable and P2P was great.

Most, if not all ADSL providers ive had were pants for P2P, including BT, Bulldog, Talk Talk and AOL, and Orange.

Binary newsgroups are evually pants with ADSL, but i got the best results with BT, hence why ive just gone back to them.

Thansk for all replys guys, sorry its been a bit in reply but hey moving house.

So Tiscali are out of the question. I have just got access for web at work as still not set up at home.

I have seen aon this forum a lot about UKFSN and I dont know them (will do my google home work).

I think I could get away with the 50/60 gig limit if that helped, like silversurfer said.

I hate this, Blueyonder was so good im gutted I cant get service at new address been with them for 7 years.

Any more suggestions would be good b4 I make my choise....

UKFSN

I have seen the site and the speck looks good just a little confused about the price. quote

Unlimited ADSL
Original ADSL
Our Original ADSL service offers unlimited broadband for a fixed monthly fee with no usage limits, no port blocking, no traffic throttling or shaping.

Orginal ADSL is available at a choice of 512kb/s, 1Mb or 2Mb download speeds with a fixed upload speed of 256Kb/s. There is an option to have this based upon a MAX connection in which case the download speed is fixed with the upload speed being rate adaptive up to 448kb/s* for the same price.

Extreme - Unlimited ADSL MAX
Like the Original ADSL service Extreme offers unlimited broadband at a fixed monthly fee with no no usage limits and no port blocking.

Extreme ADSL provides download speeds up to 8Mb* and upload speeds of up to 448kb/s*.

Download Speed Upload Speed Monthly Price
512K 256K £23.50
1Mb 256K £29.99
2Mb 256K £35.24
Up to 8Mb Up to 448K £79.99

Is the Unlimited ADSL Original the same prices quoted above for Extreme - Unlimited ADSL MAX??? Are they different packages and if so what is the Original price?? So confused.

Hi thanks for BE comment have just checked them and they not available in the area I am moving to as they looked the be a just the trick

Anymore for Anymore.

Also is there a sight were i can put in the phone number to test line and check speeds as I now have a number?

Hi there does the shot below mean I couldn't expect anything over 8mbps if I were to move to 'BE' in a few weeks??

I'm pretty sure that Pipex have a FUP, my mate works on the help desk and he mentioned it a while ago.

i used to work there. They have a fair usage policy and they manage peer to peer as well the last i heard.

Im with demon, seems very good but im not a heavy user.

So 5.5mbps is the best I'll get

When I called 'Be' the other week the chap on the hone said I could expect 11mbps or more after checking my number ??
