The best keyboard ever!!!

Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone would know what is the best mechanical gaming keyboard for everything. For now I plan to use it for coding and then for gaming when I get my system.

Mechanical keyboards offer a variety of switches, so what's best for coding won't be 'best' for gaming.

You will be looking to buy the best compromise for your needs.

One of my gaming/programmer friends swears by his DAS keyboard, the one without the marked keys.

Coding = Lot's of typing

Blues would suit you best for typing and gaming but they are loud. If you want slightly quieter keys then browns are the next best from blues.

Buy a proper brand not a compromised gaming board. Filco for example.

The steelseries 7g looks the best. I don't mind the noise.

I'd say the MK-85. I've got it with browns and it's great however the reds that it comes with as default are quieter.

is there a tottally customisable keyb as in buy a base and insert key types where and when u want ?

I can vouch for the QPAD MK-85 red switches. Fatigue is nonexistent when typing and silky smooth. Your fingers almost glide across the keys and the sound is more-or-less inaudible if you teach yourself not to bottom out.

For gaming, well, it is arguably the best keyboard around.

I'd say that beyond the budget brands / rubbish tat it's the same as mice: personal preference.

From your needs it sounds like blue switches are the best, but as mentioned they are noisy.

I have a Filco Majestouch 2 blue switch, and I do a bit of coding on mine as well as gaming. For both this keyboard is very comfortable, I can type pretty fast on this compared to the rubber domes I was using before.

Yes. But they're hand made Korean/Chinese enthusiast boards done in small number runs and cost a small fortune.
