What would you say is the best single player game on the PC, from the last 3-4 years?

For me its most probably Far Cry, Amazing imo.

Heard FEAR was good, but havent tried it just yet.

Plenty of games being listed here are too old. Morrowind, Mafia, Planescape Torment, and quite a few of those in the above post for starters.

Personally I'd go along with Far Cry. Decent length, excellent technology, good graphics/performance tradeoff, vast levels with a reasonable degree of openness, fun weapons and decent combat - pretty much everything a good FPS needs.

Call of Duty is an incredible experience, but a bit too short to land the title. KOTOR runs it close, too, but FC just shades it for me.

1. Far Cry, graphics 18 months ahead, plus massive levels and a great gameplay
2. Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2, acceptable graphics unlike Red Alert 1 or oringinal C&C which are just to old, plus a sense of fun that modern RTS's (CoH, SupCom, etc.) have lost.
3. Oblivion, I still haven't finished all the original side-quests never mind the millions of community add-on's.
4. Company of Heroes, good graphics, good gameplay, no glaring problems, means it's got to get in the top five but because imho it lacks the x factor which makes a game great it won't be there in Feb 2008, while some of the others probably will be.
5. Half Life 2, two words: head crabs.
